Wierd Sound

I am getting a wierd, mettalic "clink" sound now and then. Some times it occurs when I hit a bump. Some times during braking. Some times when I back off the throttle and coast. Some times when backing up. It is hard to isolate. I can't tell if it is from the front or rear. It just sounds like a metallic "clink". Not a whine, or consistant growl. Is my diff. letting go? Did my installer do something wrong with my PRG kit? Brakes?

Re: Wierd Sound

do you have helper springs in the back? the u-bolts I installed on the leaf springs worked loose over time and occasionally made a metallic noise.

Re: Wierd Sound

I had the same problem after i got my PRG lift put in. It turned out to be the front right strut went bad , I think the guy who installed it beat on it to much when putting the strut back in. I would take the lift out and bring it to nissan and have them fix it. If they see the lift in there they will give you a hard time and probably void your warrenty on your suspension.

Re: Wierd Sound

Stock rear springs. If it turns out to be the struts I'm sure the dealer will balk at the PRG kit.

Re: Wierd Sound

It's been over a month since I started noticing the sound. Since I had it at the dealer for an electrical issue, I had them look at it. They said they ordered covers for the leaf spring clips. We'll see what they are when they put them in. They also did a 4-wheel brake job, modded the fan bracket, replaced the trailer harness, and ordered parts for the gas barfing filler neck. Sounds like a big day for a 4600 mile truck.
