I herd that Ford is coming out with a 4.4 liter diesel with 330 HP and 700 ft lbs of torque with 6 speed trannys for there F150's and other trucks will get it as well.
Now who knows what kind of quality it will be because they have been having tons problems with there 6.0 liter diesel, granted they don't build that engine which could be the reason why for them to start putting their own diesels in the trucks. I think they said it is going to come from their VOLVO line of diesels.
Just thought that I would share that little bit of info.
Re: Wake Up and Smell the Coffee. Nissan Has Diesel Trucks Allready
truck trend stated in their most recent issue the international built v-6 could be the td for the Titan but I have also talked to peeps in Cummins country that they are building a v-8 td for theTitan line-up and the v-6 could go intothe fronty or the Pathy but only patince and time will tell the truth. look at the past TD posts and so far all the info I and others have reported have been darn close to right on.
the v-6 rated 200-250 hp and 330-370 tq if remember correctly and the no.s still not out on the v-8 power and torque yet; but will keep all posted as info comes in. back later tonight got toget back to all and happy Titan truckin'

Gas is expensive enough, who wants to pay more for loud, stinky, diesel??? Keep it cheap and simple. Just my 2$ worth. Wake up and smell the diesel ... (not me, thanks)

If it gets the International engine family, they will be reliable and strong. That's Internationals claim to fame. Their older engines were about 225 Hp and 550 lbs of torque in their class 7 rigs. Options in HP went up to a bit over 300 hp but nothing like the class 8 rigs with 450 Hp and 1000 lbs of torque or better.
Check out Navistar.com and it should state numbers.
Re: Wake Up and Smell the Coffee. Nissan Has Diesel Trucks Allready
I want a full sized truck with a small efficent diesel that can tow 9500 lb and gets 20-30 mpg. I only need to haul 1500 lbs in my bed and I need a crew cab. "Build it and they will come" and buy millions of them.

Come on guys! Do you actually think that Nissan would allow someone else to design and build their engines?! NO! Nissan will design (maybe co-design) the engine, then allow Cummins to manufacture some of the major components, or only assemble it, just so Nissan can put a big "Cummins" label on the d@mn fenders.
Ford did this very thing with International. They co-designed it, International makes some of the major components, then ships from their Indianapolis plant to the Kentucky Truck Plant where the UAW assembles the entire engine.

Indeed they do, in the UD truck line with light, medium and heavy duty diesels sold right here in the US.
But to respond to an earlier post, when you read the specs on these Nissan trucks, you will see that each engine is a "vendor engine manufactured for Nissan."
That's just like Ford, GM and Dodge. None of them make their own diesel engines, although they may have input in the design.

A friend at work was telling me his dad has an old nissan(datsun) pickup with a diesel engine in it. Has way over 300,000 miles on it and still running strong.
