I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

I've been interested in the Titan. I plan to buy one sometime in June or July. Until then I decided to do some reasearch. Anyways, I've been lurking this board for a while and I already went through the whole search engine but couldn't find exactly what I wanted.

I don't want to spend over 30,000k on this truck. I went to the Nissan Website and build the truck I wanted and it came out to under 30k. Now, my questions are, is summer time a good time to shop for a car? Are they still going to have a lot of discounts on cars like last yr with the employee discounts? I've read how a lot of you were able to get trucks for as much as 8,000k below the MSRP.

Thanks in advance!!

Another thing. I know that there are additional cost like Tax fees and the interest. So I'm not factoring that into the 30k below range.

Also, this is the truck I want:
4x2
Crew Se
Additional Options Floor Mats, Bedliner, and Sirius Sattelite.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of bang for the buck.

Hopefully I can get a good deal like that.

I found a chevy Z-71 red tagged for 30100, and told them if they couldn't beat it I was buying the chevy. Wasn't really going to do it, but it got them down and additional 2000 bucks. Before I found the chevy the lowest they said they could go was 31500.

Billy

I didn't shop for a 4X2 SE but I'm thinking you should be able to get into one for about $24-$25K, not including Tax, title, license. Up here, you can get 4x4 SE's CC's for 26-27K.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

Thanks for the replies. Is there a time in the year when it's the best time to buy? The only reason I don't buy now is because I always hear how during the summer is the best time to buy, but i'm not sure.

I'm also hoping to keep the payments under 600 a month, hopefully 500.

I bought mine just over a week ago on the 31st of january and the msrp was 43,500 my out the door price, tax; license doc fees dest. etc. included was 39,000. was very please wid the results. Top of the line beast smoke cc. offroad, nav, sunroof, dvd, side air bags, tow you name it, i've got it. Anyways.... best time would be the very end of the month cuz thats when push comes to shove on volume! numbers and quota etc from the dealers stand point. They've gotta report these crucial numbers to their corp. headquarters and supieriors so with that in mind remember go in the very last day of the month cuz man..let me tell you, the reason they are so willing to take a loss is bcuz lenders offer them with other big discounted incentives such as rebates for their financing programs and with that in respect you would be more likely to get approved for a higher finance price than normal cuz bank of america and other financilal institutes as well have to keep track of numbers too and you know they try to beat out other competitors, "the American dream" (its a cut throat business) Being a biz economics major from USC, GOOOOO TRooooojans! does help out a bit when you wanna know the stand points of the business world perspective. OH YEAH one last thing,,,......... do the what I call the walk away approach, act as if you could live without the car/truck and give em a price that you know it's worth and if they let you walk away without selling you the auto then you know what their botton line is ...but trust me theres always room............to save you extra mula. We work hard for our money don't just give it away

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

watch for the Nissan cash back program. It was $2000 in December, and then $2,500 in January, so no, summer isnt the best time to buy, the best time to buy is when the manufacture is knocking $2,500 off the top. Then you negotiate down from there.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

I paid $28,250 OTD for mine. It is a 4x4 CC with big tow, off road and captains chairs. I bought mine in September '04 when there was a $2000 rebate. Car companies usually run rebates toward the end of the year, so I think summer wouldn't be a good time to buy.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

I used the Fax Attack from fightingchance.com . I was very happy with the deal I got and it was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. I will use their methodology on all of my future car purchases no matter what time of the year it is.

Just be sure to negotiate the 'out the door' price. Not the selling price.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

get pricing reports from www.edmunds.com , make an offer and stick to it. You will have more success negotiating with the dealers "internet department" and by trying dealers that are in large cities where they have more competition for thier business.

Take edmunds TMV price, and sales tax and no more. Dont let them charge you for "dealer prep fees" or any other bull crap. Try to get lower than edmunds (thats tough, but can be done) but dont pay any more than that.

Out the door is also very good advice. You avoid bull**** fees this way. You make your "out the door" offer, and then they can negotiate the paperwork to say anything that makes them happy, but your bottom line price is still the same.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

State sales tax, county taxes, and license vary from state to state, so always use msrp and your buying price. It was ridiculous to post about out the door price. The deal I got on a new 05 se kc 2x4 in december was probably one of the best anyone has seen here, msrp 26470, bought for 19750 and a full tank of gas. Oh, and it was on December 3 2005, not the end of the month.

Re: I want to buy a Titan. Advice needed!

so you got a good price, thats great for you, but why would that make negotiating for "out the door" price ridiculous?

Its an effective way to avoid haggling over "add on" charges.
