I recently came back from Mammoth on got ticket for TINTED WINDOWS. I have two options. Pay $240 and leave the windows as is or have the tint remove and pay $10. I wanna leave the tint on, so my favor is: is anyhere in southern cali a law enforcement officer or know one that can write it off for me.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

It should only cost $100 dollars to get your front windows tinted. Remove tint, pay ticket, reapply tint (might I suggest lighter this time like 30-35%)
Prob solved.

How dark was the tint you have on your truck and on which windows was it applied?
I also live in California (hence my avatar) and have given some thought to getting some very light tint on the front side windows as well as darkening the rear side windows and back.
This is an old gripe for all of us living in what we all know is the over-used cliche "Kommiefornia." And yes, I own guns, so don't get me started on that topic.
Anyhow, my understanding is that few cops here in CA will bug you for illegal, CA-specific window tint unless your tint includes any of the following descriptors:
1. is very dark
2. covers the front windshield
3. accompanies boneheaded driving habits (including loud music or ostentatious showing-off of the Titan's V-8)
4. happens to be spotted when a cop is having a bad day with the locals
If you use common sense, you will see that numbers 1 to 3 are pretty easy to avoid and therefore a ticket is unlikely. However, given how crazy this state is getting, #4 may do you in when you least expect it. This is why adding illegal window tint and doing other conspicuous-looking modifications to your truck is an invitation for law enforcement to pull you over. Then if you are on a little beer buzz , have a secret stash of herb in your glove box , or have lowlifes as friends who enjoy riding along as passengers in your Titan (hey, the Titan doesn't discriminate), you are likely to be targeted by the fuzz.
Nevertheless, I am considering darkening my rear sides and back windows a little bit as well as putting a real thin sheen of tint on my front sides to keep things as cool in my truck as possible without attracting too much "heat."
I live in southern cal and my driver's and passenger side front windows have the lightest tint, its the LAW. The rest of the windows are limo-tint except the rear sliding window (just lighter than limo).
As for the ticket I believe that only an officer from that certain department can write it off for you. I'll ask my bro!! GOOD LUCK!:
California Tint Law Enacted: 1999
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

On your state police website look for a sun allergy form, then go to your normal doctor and ask him if he will sign it, most doctors will. Then take that form back to your state police and then you can have your tint as dark as you want it. Some states also let you get dark tint for security reasons.
I'm surprised they give you a choice. usually it's fix it period.
did you get tagged for other violations or just tint?
I was semi slick. I took off the tint on 1 side, rolled down the other window and got it signed off. btw FV charges $15 to write it off for you. westminster I heard is $20.
in Arizona you can do 20% fronts I think. go figure!
sshhh on my front windshield tint

It was a mammoth cop. He took out his measuring device to see how much light could pass. I have limo tint on them; they def would not pass. Thanks for all the advice and help guys. I do know some officers through friends...trying to contact them. Hopefully something will fall through cause I really don't want to remove and reapply.

The Dark Tint Looks Great But The Fact Is Police Officers Are Killed On Traffic Stops Daily, They Want To Know Whats Inside The Car As They Approach. The Best Thing To Do Is Peal It Off And Re-apply Some Legal Tint.
Too Dark A Tint Is Just A Big Red Flag That Say's "stop Me".
i can respect a peace officer's concern of their own safety. lots of good cops have been killed from simple stops but in arizona and nevada it's legal be a lot darker than in Cali. I think the danger in those states for officers is the equilavent to any other states. criminals don't care about borders.
this mammoth officer appears to be giving window tint violations only which he has every right to enforce but I would speculate for some other reason than just officer safety.
I'm not trying start to start trouble like those other threads just making an opinion on inconsistency.

Limo Dark is just that For Limos. I bet if you had been slightly dark than legal say 20% you might not have had your balls busted. I have 20% and legal here is 35% never had a problem. Especially since it looks lighter than the backs. He got the light meter out to have evidence that it was in fact darker than legal rather than just his judgement did you get a ticket for anything else?? If not your lucky usually that can be time for a full search or the very least here in MA to get a seatbelt ticket or any other offence they could find since you feel you wanna say look at me with my dark windows. I'd say anything darker than 20% will definitely pose a safety risk for officers and their job is risky enough with criminals that they don't need honest citizens making it harder for them to tell the good guys from the bad guys.

I agree. Also most cops around here, especially unmarked cars, have around a 5% tint to their vehicles. How does that make sense?!

I'd try the sun thing or have your Dr. sign somethin for migranes. Sunlight makes migranes worse and that is what I plan on using if I get a ticket for mine.
BTW By Me I've heard of the cops issuing you a ticket and then either having you peel it off( abuddy of mine had to peel his off at 15%) or having the vehicle towed so it definietly not worth it I don't think you can have the ticket rescinded for taking off by me I think the ticket still stands unless you can fight it for a legitimate reason.
