You shouldn't, especially for an 05 in 2006. Remember that the dealership is making at least $2500 in kickbacks at invoice.

I got my truck for over $1200 under invoice(no trade in) on an 05 in July of 05,at least that was what the figures said on a printed sheet the saleman came out with. 05(12 miles on it), SE KC 4x4 BT, OR, Pop and some BS stuff like floor mats for 25k even. Cali's massive sales tax, 36mo financing charge on the remainder of 10k put down, and whatever other crap they add on at the end totaled to just shy of 29k.Payments are $529/mo. That sound like about 12-1300 under invoice?

But that's nothing, I heard that several dealerships across the country were advertising Titans at $8000 under MSRP right after Katrina!

Let us know how you did! When I bought my truck I got tons of help from former buyers and even a disgruntled Nissan salesman at Edmunds.com. Good luck!

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

I bought my 2005 in November 05 at 3K under invoice (with the rebate). I have seen some dealers lower than that for the 05's.

3k under invoice? Bravo! How much did you put down and how much are your payments?

Dont disregard the depreciation factor. He bought an 05 1 month from 06.

Dont forget the rebate, although it seems to carry over every month, and even increases. I bought quicker to get the rebate, but they just exteneded it anyway.

Its a gamble, you dont know when it will end.

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

Yep - I was insulted on their stance on the 2005 , but hey, if they said they "can sell it" - they didn't realize it was already February of 2006..

so.....

In Cali, can I get the rebate AND a low apr? ( depending on my credit of course )

Going to the original dealer tomorrow..

let's say that after all is said and done , if I make the deal at X amount for a Titan, do I...

A) trade in the Fronty and get y amount - the OTD price ( X ) and finance difference? That's making an assumption that the dealer get's a banking kick or incentive that could help trade in or OTD.
B) trade in the Fronty , get y amount - the OTD price ( X ) and pay cash
C) Do the deal for X amount and sell pp - duh ( ? )

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

option C is your best choice, but it has its drawbacks. Like the pain in the butt of selling your car. Do you have enough cash to buy the titan without financing? If so, do it. I dont think the rebate goes with the low apr, its one or the other usually.

Or option B. Avoid financing if possible anyway you can.

And again, try to find a dealer in the biggest city with the most competition. And try ther internet department.

And WALK AWAY. Good job there. They have to want to sell it more thn you want to give them your money. Youre in control.

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

I figured option C the best - but as you said - it is a total pain trying to sell it on your own - IF the diff is worth 2k or less between trade in and pp - I'm better off trading it in, as I really don't have the time to go thru the process..

I have more than enough for the difference ( line of credit ) but I'm trying to shell out as little as possible to get into any deal..

Make the dealer give you PP value. Thats what i did. Trade in value leaves them too much profit. Bastards.....

You can't get the special financing and the rebate . It's one or the other.
Nice try though.
I got mine for $5000 under sticker after rebate and sale discount at Mossy Nissan.

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

I got a loan from capital one auto finance for a better intrest rate than nissan wanted to give me anyway. That is the way I will do all vehicle purchases from now on. Made it real easy to deal with the dealer, just fill out the amount on the check and you are done.

Re: Buying New - 2005 dealer stock or new 2006?

I bought my New 2006 CC SE on 1-11-06, walked out the door with tax-title-license, and a set of new step baords for $350 over invoice. I didn't think it was to bad a deal. Hope you can talk them down.
