Would #12 be the vent you are refering to? What does the plug look like and what does the vent look like?

My old rear end has the vent, so I don't see how putting the same vent on the new rear will fix anything.

I'm not a mechanic but I'm guessing if the vent stays plugged in the new one, there will be no vent, until a seal goes or something like that.

They are reusing the old vents, so if it is plugged it will still be pluggeg on the new rear end. I didn't have any leaks on my rear and IMO my failure doesn't have anything to do with heat. The metal pieces I have don't have any signs of heat fatique, it appears the metal is just weak.
Re: need to read about diff failures this will fix it
I may be wrong, but I think my last 2 Frontys had a vent "tube" that went up into the frame or near the bottom of the bed, above the diff. Intended to keep water out when in deep water that covered the diff? Shouldn't our Titans have a vent tube of at least 1/2 a foot or so. Or am I thinking of something else.
Thanks for posting this. Do you think that Nissan would give you any trouble if you rear failed and you had this. I know that it wont hurt,it will help, but Nissan might try to use it as an excuse. Will typing this I realized you could just remove it before it went in.
