Umm, Not that I am an expert, but on certain types of road and down low, perhaps asphalt, wouldn't more tire surface area = greater grip, i.e. flat bald tires would probably outgrip the same tires with tread. After all dragsters use the smooth tires.

I think torque is important and engine output is a reflection of torque at rpm. That's why high torque diesels tend to do very well in these type of events provided they can get traction.

I love my Armada, but have no doubt that my F-250 7.3L diesel could pull it around like a rag doll. I drive both truck daily. I pull an 8,000 lb. trailer with both. As fine as my Armada is in pulling that trailer, the diesel gets underway with more authority.

If the tug of war placed a V6 or the puny 4.6 against the Titan, I would not call that a fair contest. If it was the 5.4, then that would be a fair matchup, especially if it was the newer 3 valve design. A win with that ease against the newer 5.4 would mean something.

It (power) would account for something only if traction and weight were identical in both vehicles. If you have a puny V6 weighing 5500 LBS vs a powerhouse V8 weighing 4900 LBS, the V6 would drag it. But I don't think it's just a cut and dry thing. A torquy diesel still would have to match its opponants traction to win a oull-off. But I do believe, with everything equal, the torque of a diesel would win.

Re: Titan vs. F-150 Tug-O-War

505 pounds of torque stock in the 7.3L at less than 1500 rpm. Thats totally stock. No chip, no exhaust or intake. Just ease off idle and tip into the throttle gradually. But you are right that all else equal, the heavier truck has the advantage.

Re: Titan vs. F-150 Tug-O-War

I posted this on the other thread. My brother has a 02 tacoma 4X4 cc, and we hooked up my 4X4 OR CC both in 4LO on dirt, and neither one of us moved on inch. We both dug 4 big holes but didn't move. On dirt I couldn't even move him with him just holding his brakes. I wouldn't try this on cement, because something will probably break.

On dirt, your heavier truck would have dragged. If you both had crappy traction, that'd account for no movement. You can't drag hime if you're spinning your wheels in dirt.

Exactly even though my truck was heavier and had more power I could not move him. That is the point I've been trying to make. It all boils down to traction.

Re: Titan vs. F-150 Tug-O-War

This should be done pulling a sled full of weights rather than tug-o-war. It seems mildly retarted. Somebody is going to end up ripping the rear end off of a perfectly good truck.

That is the reason we did it on the dirt, and took out all the slack out of the strap. Doing it this way is no different than pulling something like a tree stump, or anything like this. Tug-O-War on cement is just asking to break something.

Re: Titan vs. F-150 Tug-O-War

to who ever made this video

I hope you enjoyed your cheap thrill and sorry excuse of a pull off.

Why do I say this.?...that Ford is a 97 V6 4.2 step-side vs A 2005 Titan V-8
pretty lame in my book next time find a 2004 or newer F-150 with a 5.4 then you will have a real-pull off. that was apples to oranges comparision

it would be like me doing a pull off against a SuperDuty.
all this video does is make us look foolish.

Remember the Ford boys know there trucks like we know ours.

I also remember to pull off challage and no one stepped up .

So when will someone step up to a real challege? Theres VS ours

Or or our we just gonna sit here and watch this sorry excuse of a video wank-off?

Well, they banned me. Everything was fine when I left there yesterday, I wonder what happened last night. I think they are upset about the gutless 5.4.

WOW....LOL...you seem a little pissed! The pull-off is a traction issue...nothing to do with power. And it was a 1/2 ton vs a 1/2 ton....hardly to be compared to a SuperDuty version of the Ford. I want to see the new F-150 vs Titan myself but as I've mentioned in an earlier post, these pull-offs mean more to kids than adults. They really mean squat.

BTW, the Ford in the video is a V8....if that matters to you...lol...seems like it does.

Well it seems to be missing the triton V8 emblem from the fender .Maybe he's trying hide the fact its a V-8 truck?
and there is a differance between all three engines, just the weight differance alone will change things. the 5.4 is what we should be comparing our trucks too

Not to forget about the several years differance in model years that is aleast 2-3 older.

Com'on man get real...you know that was a rigged contest, with the tables being turned; if they (they being ford owners) had pulled a stunt like that ,everyone here would be crying foul.

Sorry you can defend it all you want its still what it is ..... a Lame video

So when will we see a real pull off?
