In dash power outlets question, switched power?

In past vehicles I've owned there was a way to change the setting for switched power or constant power to the in dash outlets. Is there any way to do this on the Titan or am I stuck with constant power to the outlets? I have a Garmin 2720 plugged in and would like it to turn off with the truck as I keep forgetting and leaving it on and am worried I'm going to come out to a dead battery soon.

Thanks for any help.

Left one stays on all the time, right one turns off.

Re: In dash power outlets question, switched power?

If you want to hard wire it instead of having it plugged into the power socket, you can use a fuse tap or LittleFuse mini-blade add-a-circuit and tap at the fuse panel on the passenger side in the cab. Just tap something that goes on - off with ignition (the fuse panel cover is marked BAT & IGN I think) & don't exceed the total max fuse rating of the circuit.

Re: In dash power outlets question, switched power?

also if you have the center console, the rear outlet on the floor is switched...
With the GPS, Cell and XM Radio all my outlets inside the truck are spoken for!

Re: In dash power outlets question, switched power?

Why not just use the passenger's side power outlet. On many, if not all Titans, the passenger's side is switched, the driver's side isn't?

But if I am wrong, keep reading.

How many wires are going to the power outlet itself?

I would simply use a stanard SPST 30-amp Automotive Relay. Quick, simple, best way to do it, without "tapping" into the fuse block. Cut the main 12v wire powering your outlet. Pin 85 on the relay goes to ground, Pin 86 goes to your switched power source (anything with ignition only), Pin 87 goes to the harness side of the wire you cut, and Pin 30 goes to the power outlet side of the wire you cut.

When your truck is off, the relay is off (not activated). When you turn the truck on, Pin 86 receives power from your switched source, which then "activates" the relay. This in turn will connect pins 87 and 30 together, thus, powering your outlet.....
