Re: Sunroof

a warranty is a warranty is a warranty is a warranty... why do you need a factory warranty?

Re: Sunroof

The question is, for $1100 what brand and size is it? The price isn't the same for all. It's like saying you bought a new truck for $19,000 and not telling if it's 4X4 or a Frontier or Titan. The price is just the price.
Is the roof a manual pop up or electric slider? The other thing is you want to see other work the shop did. Not every tech does the same level of work. Some are just laborers and others are craftsmen. This is why the factory roof is a better choice because they are all done the same. Good luck.

Re: Sunroof

My boss got his aftermarket one installed for $1100 and it is just as good as the factory one. His came with a lifetime quarantee for leaks, can't say the factory will offer you that! Here are our trucks side by side, I have the factory moonroof, his is after market.

Nothing like seeing a company stand by their work to make you feel like you're doing the right thing!

True is true, however, it depends on the installer, like Clint said. Yours looks like a high quality unit with really nice installation, Rcantu. I've heard and seen horror stories about some aftermarket units. And it's not the unit, it's the installation. References and past customers are the key. Do the research to find a good quality shop. Heck, I know one shop who does them out of a van right in your parking lot at work, sort of like the windshield chip repair crews. I don't know that I'd go that route! Sure doesn't seem to have much quality control...

Re: Sunroof

they wanted $1400 but I knocked them down w/ a cash offer. I've seen them go for much more.

1 day turnaround.

blackbeauty..I agree with you on install. it's definitely a worry to have someone cut your roof. it's a 1 time deal.

Re: Sunroof

whoever has had an aftermarket sunroof put in, do you have any advice or suggestions on what to look for in the place doing the job, with warranty being probably the most important. i have about two or three places to choose from if i decide to do this, and i'd like to either go with the best or not go at all.

Re: Sunroof

Rcantu,

That is an awesome roof addition.
All set to cruise the big cities where one can look up and see the concrete canyons or go out west and see the natural ones, not to mention driving down some tree-lined streets etc wow.
Looks totally awesome.

That is one heck of a deal you got in price and benefits.

Congratulations.
