While Toyota officials didn’t reveal the entire lineup, they did promise three different cabs, three bed lengths and three trim levels. An updated 4.7-liter V8 and the standard 4.0-liter V6 engines currently available will carry over.
“In all, the new Tundra will be offered in over 30 different models when combining the trio of engines, three cabs, two- and four-wheel-drive, three trim levels and three different bed sizes,” said Toyota President and COO Jim Press. The current Tundra has 18 configurations.
On stage was the new Double Cab 4x4 Limited. It rides on a 145.7-inch wheelbase and has an overall length of 228.7 inches. This truck had a 78.7-inch long bed, or about 6.5 feet, and officials also said there will be an 8-foot bed. No official word on the third bed length,

Yes, and if i,m not mistaken I believe its a 5.7l making alittle over 300hp nothing ground breaking at all it just puts them where everyone else already is.
I think its ugly, they over did the front end. It looks like a cross between the current Tacoma and a Ram. Maybe it will be better in person, but judging from the pictures, I am glad I went with the 06 titan instead of waiting to see what this looked like.

yer your right its a 5.7 but still it will grab market share from Titan targeting those who want something other then a Gm ,Ford or a dodge.
Toyota's got a very large following in the smaller truck market right now with proven track record of durability.
This truck will hurt us more then it will hurt the big 3 , but it could also mean more price wars which just benifit us all..

A bigger truck. The Tundra's wheelbase has been stretched 10 inches to 138.3 inches on the standard cab. The wheelbase on the Double Cab is 150.5 inches. The overall length grows about the same amount, ranging from about 228 to 240 inches.
A new 5.7-liter V-8 joins the engine lineup. That engine should make more than 300 hp and be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It will join the current engines - a 4.0-liter V-6 that was rated at 236 hp for 2006 and a 4.7-liter V-8 that was rated at 271 hp.
Towing capacity rated at more than 10,000 pounds.

New toyota truck looks pretty good and the spec 's are not half bad.
This will cause everyone to sharpen there pencils.
When Toyota came up with the T100, similar things were said. It ended up that Toyota had to resharpen their pencils, drop the T100 and come up with something else.
I will hold back judgement on the new Tundra until it hits the road.

No offense but the T100 was an entirely different animal than even the last model Tundra. Toyota looks to actually be building a true full sized truck this time around. Nissan should look at beating them to the puch in the diesel and 3/4 ton markets.

No offense taken but Toyota said that they were building a full size truck when they were designing the T100.

Each is there own.....Remember how ugly the Titan was until you started seeing them on the road?? I think once we see these on the road with different colors it might change some minds... What's going to sell this truck is the refinement Toyota is known for. As for HP/TQ numbers this has been posted already...its 355hp 380tq these numbers where posted at the evaluation that was done which is subject to change at final release. The towing capacity was also posted at 10,500lbs+

i don't think it's that bad. to be honest the titan had to grow on me especially the big tow mirrors but when driving that sucker and the power it had compared to the competition, I had to have it.
If that toyota was out when I was shopping, i'd may have gone that way. The thing is Nissans/Infiniti are more towards the handling/performance side vs. Toyota/Lexus which goes towards refinement/luxury. I like the 1st a little more.
If Honda made a V8 and didn't make that ridgeline butt ugly that would have been a good middle ground.

I agree, remember when the tundra first came out all they offered was a V-6, same as the Honda.
Toyota's have always been top end machines. Nissan goes for low and midrange. And that is where the Titan really shines. My old '87 Nissan Hardbody V-6 drove the same way. I remember coming back from Lake Shasta towing my 2500 lb boat the '87 would steam right past a 4-cyl Toyota truck going up mountain passes.
Oh I am sure that the new tundra will outsell the Titan. Toyota will most likely be Numero Uno in the world by the end of this year.
But I didn't buy a Titan because of it's annual sales. (if I did I would have bought a Ford) I bought it because it's a Nissan. And 5 years down the road I will still own it. I don't jump ship because something better (perceived) comes along.

OK let the flaming begin
No flaming here!!! I find myself debating back and forth about another Titan or getting the new Tundra....
The things I would like to see Nissan fix on the Titan would be......
1. A more refined interior with better material quality (seats as well)
2. Do something with that rear end.... 10.5 would be nice
3. A little more power maybe 325hp and 390tq
4. Quality control
5. Quality control
6. Quality control
7. Quality control
8. fix the BRAKES!!! Upgrade to bigger rotors...
9. 6 spd automatic
10. Have the option packages make sense.
That's it for me....No bashing just somethings I would like to see changed or improved upon...
