What's up guys!? I'm halfway new to the thread, I've been reading along for a couple of months now and just now decided to join. Any way, my truck is a couple of months old and has about 1,270 miles on it. It's an 05. I've read plenty of stuff on the brake problems, and i haven't had the actual shudder yet, but i have tons of brake dust. It finally rained here in oklahoma and driving in the rain flung the water/dust mix all over my white truck. My question is is break dust enough to have a dealer look at your brakes, or does it actually need to be shuddering. The dust is pretty ridiculous. Thanks for your time and any replies!

You can ask your dealer if they want to replace them. It does sound like you don't have the updated kit. I don't think they will change just for the dust. Just call and see what happends.
I'm sure you have the new rotors but the old pads. You need to have both items. It's a matter of a few more miles before your problems start. Mine had 1500 miles on it when I took it in, no questions asked. Brake dust is almost nil. There are plenty of threads on this subject.
depending on your production date you may require the brake fix. mine was doing the same thing. took it in and it qualified for the brake update.my prod date is 6-05 . no more brake dust problem. mine was not doing the shudder yet.
Everything my wife drives has an abundance of brake dust. When I ride shotgun with her, my foot gets sore from stomping the imaginary brake pedal on the passenger floorboard as she waits untill the very last mili-second before getting her pretty little foot off the gas pedal and onto the brake......what I'm trying to say is, ease up on the whoa pedal there, partner.

My guess would be that no, they won't change hem just because of brake dust. I can say though, that you must have at least the old pads because the new ones leave almosy NO dust at all. I would bring it in and ask them to check them.

thanks for the replies to a subject that has been beaten to death. The dealership is about an hour away so I'll probably just call them. couple more things , how do i find my production date and how old does it have to be to have the crappy stuff.

production date is on the drivers side door. There's a sticker that states the manu. date. That will tell you when it was "born".
I think? the new brake kit was somewere around August??? That should give you a good idea.
I got over 14000 miles on my 05 with plenty of brake dust and no judder at all. I have been stomping on the brake from over 75 on a regular basis to check and the steering wheel dosen't move at all.
Sooner-I feel your pain. I hate brake dust. I live in Fla. and keep a pressure washer plumbed by my parking area for bugs. I had to use it every day for brake dust on the wheels on my '05. I went to the dealer with clean wheels, complained, then went back 7 days later w/nasty ones and they fixed the prob. WA-LA! no more dusty wheels.

They will do the TSB if you take it in. I had mine done last week. I told them I was having some judder at highway speeds when actually they were fine. You'll get new rotors and new pads front and back. The repalcement is basically automatic now. They won't even do a test drive.
