For those with drivers side clunk in front end..

I've had this slight clunk in the left front end and it turns out the carrier bearing on th left side of front differential is bad. They are replacing it with a new updated version when it comes in. It's really no big deal.. it works fine but has a little play in it. New ones have stonger carrier bearings according to the GM.

LOL...If you knew me, you wouldn't ask but...absolutely not. Apparently, it quite common due to weak carrier nearings BUT....it's not a big deal. Most may never notice it and other than th slight clunk over bumps, there's really no problems with it.
I use Poughkeepsie Nissan and wouldn't take it anywhere else!

Re: For those with drivers side clunk in front end..

Very easy to check. Climb under and grab the drivers side axle right where it enters the front diff. If you get ANY up and down play, that's your problem.

Re: For those with drivers side clunk in front end..

Thanks HVT for description of problem.
Mine had developed clunk in left front also, not really noticable at first but got so loud it was embarrassing. Climbed under truck, found left axle had a lot of play. Truck at dealer now for inspection.
Thanks again!

Great. I hope that's your problem. Mine was never noticable outside the truck because it never got that bad. I've had the diff replaced and it's much nicer over bumps now.
