Cool Changing Lights on Dash Instrument Panel

Hey Everybody:

I wanted to know if anyone has ever replaced the dashlights in any car or truck you have ever had? I want to change all of the dim, dull, boring orange lights in my truck and put in some lights similar to the honda car just to brighten the interior a bit. Anybody know how to go about doing this?

bro, u totally read my mind...I was gonna post this like 2 days ago but thought Ill try to figure something out and once I do (if I do) Ill post a how to...but was thinkin and either way itd be a pain in th @$$ cuz the speedometer would be a b**ch...especially with the PDRN123 and the odo. being in like lcd form...I dont think either way u could change that (without an overlay or something even then...be hard)...

Re: Changing Lights on Dash Instrument Panel

I never understood why Nissan went with the dim orange lights. Would be really nice to change it out. Get to work guys!

Hey by the way while I am on the subject... Since changing the cluster out obviously the mileage wasnt exactly the same. The gauges hold the mileage when disconnected. So does anyone know of a way to set the mileage to show properly? Ok well Im going to grab my truck real quik and pull her apart. I will be back in a few!
About the odometer - not even the dealer can change the reading. It has to be done at the factory.

Re: Changing Lights on Dash Instrument Panel

I wonder if the titans lights are led's as well. I will ask a friend of mine to see if he knows someone who does that type of soldering. Pie if you get something to work holla at me.

I have been at the window switches and locks and all those goodies and they are all leds as well. I will keep everyone updated with what I can come up with.
We need to get something like these (check out the Quicktime movie - lower left). I'd be in for this setup!

I have been searching for information about changing to QX gauges. How much was it? was the install pretty straightforward? Anything else need to be changed to make it work?

I tried to search for it, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks for the help-

Re: Changing Lights on Dash Instrument Panel

Hey guys, check this out!!! I have been a member on the 350Z forums for quite awhile now, and there is this high schooler in Dallas that can, and has done this. His work is amazing! Here is his thread where he changed ALL of the LEDs in his car over to a blue and red scheme. Before he went red like some of you here mentioned, and decided he didn't like it (I do not either to tell the truth).

Here is the link to his thread. http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...ht=blue+gauges

The blue LEDs look amazing.

Re: Changing Lights on Dash Instrument Panel

Aren't all the dash light LED's soldered onto the circuit board? While soldering is no big deal, I don't know if I would want to attempt that while under warranty.
