04 had rusted diff cover dealer put updated cover on

Last week I happened to take a look under my truck after reading a thread here on TT. I took my truck to the dealer and didn't even have to argue or hassel. I told them I was curious why my cover was rusted and the service writer told me "there is an updated part, would you like to set up an appointment and we will replace it?". I was shocked. I had planned to do this upgrade myself and because my truck was due for the fluid to be changed in the rear end. Now it cost me nothing, I didn't have to get dirty, and now I don't have to change the fluid.

you lucky motherf^%*^%. What dealer is that ?

I have had long conversation with mine and they won't budge. I keep on telling them I hope my diff goes out so they have to replace.

Re: 04 had rusted diff cover dealer put updated cover on

I tried to get mine replaced this week when I had at the local dealer for the brakes, no luck. I also called the dealer I bought it at and he said the same thing. He said he might be able to repaint it, but no way Nissan would authorize a swap.

Re: 04 had rusted diff cover dealer put updated cover on

What Dealer was it? Maybe I'll check them out. My Dealer in Costa Mesa said no, even with the rear cover looking like crap with the rust. I had them put the syn. in at 2K, cost $95. should of been free if this is what Nissan wants you to use if you tow. WTF you buy a truck and have to upgrade to tow! Than they say to change out rear every 15K miles even when maintenance says 30K. Now I know where Stealer came from!

Harte Nissan is doing mine this weekend. The asst. manager would not cover the charge because his nissan rep siad they would not cover it.

So, I went over his head. The manager said they'll eat the cost!

I got mine done at Raceway Nissan in Riverside, California. It says on the new cover "Synthetic Oil only".

Re: 04 had rusted diff cover dealer put updated cover on

thy changed out my oil to synthetic for free but wouldnt change the cap...I said what about the rust and the guy said oh thats just surface rust...its alright...I would expect it from my dealer though...they never wanna help me out period...TILL I spoke to the GM....maybe I should talk to him and tell him they needa change it for all their crappy service...if they would change that and my headrests...it would make up for it all

well wouldnt make up for everything theyve done but would help out at least...

When i brought my 04 in for the rusted diff. at another dealer, they gave the "it's due to the california humidity" reason. Hey Aquaholic, do you remember the name of the person that helped you? i might hit this place up on monday since it's only 20 minutes from me.
