Took Titan in on Friday to get new bumper after seeing issues with Chrome

I particularly have two spots on the bottom of my bumper where there are two square holes put into the center section. I had previously dropped by their body shop so that they could see it to order another bumper.

I stop by Friday and wait for the new one to be installed and about five minutes after seeing my truck get pulled in back I get called to look at the new bumper. It's worse than mine. They go and get another one from back, box still completely sealed and it's even worse than the one they were going to put on. This one has the same spots and something that resembles welding slag on it.

It looks like when they are dipped they are held by these spots where the casting problem shows. It's the same thing on the top of the bumper as well. The dealership told me to contact Nissan so that this issue will not be passed over in the future and to get back to them in a few months when the bumper issue should be corrected. I'm no expert on chroming, but there is going to be some rust issues in the future in the rust belt states.

Is rust a 3yr/36 issue or is it covered by their extended plan.

I saw the same thing on my se 05, bottom square holes showing rust. I noticed them when I installed a bottom grille insert. This might affect all the chrome bumpers out there, interesting.

Good post. Glad you brought that to light. I looked at my bumper and noticed some rust behind it. I'm not really happy with the chrome quality anyway. It lacks the clarity that it should have. Nissan needs to take a lesson from Harley-Davidson. You could shave in front of the gearbox on my Road King.

Re: Took Titan in on Friday to get new bumper after seeing issues with Chrome

Nissan called me yesterday to address the chrome issue and is going to be following up on it. They stated that they'll find me a chrome bumper with no issues and be contacting me when one is located. I guess I'll hear from them in a few months.
