Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

We're looking to get a Titan possibly, or a Frontier, I'm leaning toward the Titan.

So, I'm looking at the Titan SE King Cab with Popular Package w/buckets, Off Road and Big Tow.

Now for my questions: Is the Roxford Fosgate package worth it? Or would I be better off putting my own in? Anything else neccesary or that would be really good to have? I've a short time to decide, and haven't looked at Nissan much.

I don't need or want anything super fancy, no leather or navigation system. Just a nice 4 wheel drive truck with the normal options. I currently drive a Dodge 2500 SLT, so I'm looking for something similar as far as options.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

I've heard of some reliability/quality control issues with the Frontier. The Titan has been very reliable, relatively speaking. A couple issues witht eh first year but those have been addressed. I now have 6,000 miles on my '06 and absolutely love it. I enjoy driving this vehicle more than any other I've ever owned. Everyone who rides in my Titan is very impressed. Nissan put a lot of thought into this truck and it shows.

Have you test driven a Titan? If not, it will answer your questions.

Get your own sound system.

Oh yeah, Welcome to TitanTalk!

Re: Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

From what I have heard from members that do have the RF system, do not get it if you think you may put something else in anyway. It doesn't sound all that much better than the standard 6-disk radio from what I have heard.

As for the rest, so long as your not planning on towing 13,000 lbs, you should be happy coming from the Dodge; the Titan you are looking at will tow 9,400 lbs. I love the power and acceleration, and I do not have the Big Tow package, so yours will accelerate even better than mine does

My only question for you... You have a rather large truck at the moment in the 2500, so if you don't mind, why are you thinking possibly Frontier? It is a great truck, just wondering if you really need the fullsize truck (Titan) or not if you are thinking about the Frontier.

Good luck either way, they are both great trucks!!!

RxZ (was originally shopping for a Frontier, but got a Titan anyway)

Yep, driven the Titan once. Just yesterday, in fact. Loved it!

Looks like I can get a really good deal on the Titan, probably better than on the Frontier.

Just wondering what everyone suggests as far as options and stuff.

Thanks for the welcome!

Re: Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

I'm going on a little journey to the sand, and this truck will mainly be for my wife.

We're trying to go down to one vehicle, so we're not paying for a vehicle not being used, and something easier for my wife to drive, thus the Frontier. But after driving both, I don't think the Titan would be a problem for her.

As far as downsizing, the Dodge is nice, but it's a lot bigger than what I need.

I plan to keep what ever I buy so I want to get the right options, but not go overboard.

You'll love the TITAN . My wify is only 5foot tall and was affraid of the size of the TITAN. But she drove it once and now its hard to get her out of it. For the money TITAN is better then FRONTIER with more power and more room. Not nockin the FRONTIER I had one before the TITAN and love it.

Yeah, if you plan on having kids when you get back, then I say get the Titan. That was the resaon we went full-size. We just were not sure if we would have room in the Frontier for a childseat, stroller, playpen, our luggage, etc, etc, etc...

Stay safe while in the sand, and thanks for serving!

RxZ (assumes on the serving part )

Re: Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

If you're worried about backseat room, stay away from the King Cab (unless you're short). I'm 6'2", 210lbs, and my 11-year old daughter is cramped behind me. The largest King Cab on the market is the Silverado/Sierra (the truck I came from), the Titan is second.

How comfortable is your wife in big vehicles? The Titan is tall and wide, and the tow mirrors can be off-putting. The backup assist helps, but my wife isn't happy at all trrying to drive my truck in traffic.

I like the Rockford Fosgate, I recommend it.

Re: Thinking of a Titan, and need some advice.

If it's your only vehicle, I'd go with the CC instead of the KC (I have). The KC is a great temporary second seat, but I wouldn't want to use it regularly, unless you want your kids to wear those funny scoliosis braces later in life, and your friends preferring to take public transportation than ride long distances with you. Other than that, the back seat is ok for occasional use, just a bit verticle...

Drive every configuration, and take time to decide which one you like best. IMHO I couldn't justify the RF upgrade with captains chairs. I SO much prefer the column shifter and bench seat (which is a semi bench seat IMHO).

Be aware, the TITAN likes gas, but if you use it for its intended purposes, i.e. towing etc. it's the way to go. I have the Big Tow, but after 1.5 years have yet to hook up a stump to pull...

The truck you're getting sounds great! I would suggest the SE POPULAR PKG (which is very common and may be on that truck) which has a lot of useful items like Homelink, power seat, audio controls on the steering wheel, rear sonar (a definite!) power adjustable pedals and more. If yours has the RF system as well (most likely) you're all set. The RF system isn't for a real audiophile but is must better sounding than the stock 6 CD system and the subwoofer helps big time. Sounds like a nice truck, enjoy it and welcome to TT!
