Japanese "Jatco" tranny used in Titan

or

Nissan uses a Jatco Japanese manufactured 5-speed automatic transmission in the Titan, but not sure which one. This is one of the smoothest shifting auto transmissions I have ever experienced! Can any members identify which one it is? They are both used in medium duty rear wheel drive vehilces.

Re: Japanese "Jatco" tranny used in Titan

From the small amount of time i spent under my truck, i would guess it looks more like the first one pictured.

A couple thoughts: I think the titan is considered "light" duty and you said those were 'medium duty", they might not be for the titan, either one of them.

And smooth shifting isnt really good for a tranny. Nice hard, firm shirts are better for lifespan and performance. A smooth shift means your slipping between gears. A nice hard shift means , slam, its in the next gear. However, customers like that, so thats how they build them.

I thought it was a "high tech" electronically activated suppository.

Controlling the engine during shifts helps them to be so smooth without having excessive slipping. Makes it easier that we are drive-by-wire, they can really fine tune things.

The doctor prescribed some of those for me one time, but the taste was so bad, I quit taking them.
