I really apprieciate my titan

Last monday a 20 something rear ended my titan. Just bent the bumper a little, the trailer hitch did wonders for her car though.
I dropped my truck off at the body shop thurs and was given a 06 chevy 1500 crew cab for a loaner. Other than the split climate control and the seemingly descent gas mileage i was very much not impressed. the seats were uncomfortable and the power nonexistent. I popped the hood expecting to see a V6 but was supprised that it had a V8. Its no wonder chevy is losing its A_ _.

Agreed, the current model run has definitely run its course. I had a 96 GMC Z-71 that I liked a lot. It had the 5.7L vortec and was pretty torquey for its day (and I think more than the new GM's). These new engines with less displacement, and less torque (albeit with more HP than my old one), just can't cut it in a full size vehicle.

And yes, there interiors are from yesteryear as well, way overdue for an update.

Nice truck, btw, I like your taste in color!

I feel your pain, and white is the fastest color by far.

Re: I really apprieciate my titan

Granite looks better as it's blowing by you.

White's the color of delivery vehicles.

FWIW, my last truck was a 2002 Z-71 with the 4800 V-8. While it wasn't a rocket sled, It could easily handle a full pallate of wet sod (1800#), a yard of topsoil (1800-2000#), or 30 sheets of 3/4" subfloor plywood (1800#). It got 17mpg in mixed driving, and I could operate every control in the truck with work gloves on.

Point being, the Titan plays to a different market. It's a homeowner truck. It's got a ton of power, but it's not set up to be a work truck. No LSD, controls are too small, the Utilitrack (while nice for my personal stuff) is absolutely worthless in a work environment, the spray-in liner is too thin, not to mention it's moronic not to have it on the tailgate, and the tires on the "off-road" package are terrible at shedding mud. Don't even get me started on the uber-thin paint.

Now, the truck's got a lot of nice features. I love the bed-side storage for my rachet straps, and there's a ton of cubbies in the cabin. But, as nice as the truck is, it completely missed the mark as a work truck.

I like it. I enjoy driving it. I love the power. But the minute the 2nd year new Silverado comes out it's getting traded.

Re: I really apprieciate my titan

That olive green colored Titan has to be the slowest......I've often wondered who would walk into a dealership, point to a puke green truck, and say," wrap that one up, I'll take it with me!"....uhhhh, unless you own one, then what I mean is.....that's a purdy truck.

Hopefully they offer something like Granite.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not just bi*ching. Nissan sold me on a "real" full-sized work truck, and they're not quite ready for prime-time. It's a great personal-use truck, but it's severely outclassed on the jobsite.

I agree the bed could be bit longer, and i took care of the bedliner and did my own, tailgate to bulkhead. but as far as a work truck i guess it depends on what your work is. it works perfectly as a service truck for my business. my only regret is i didn't get the utilitrack system. with the toolboxes i have mounted i can't get to the factory tiedowns.

P.S. white has to be the fastest color

Re: I really apprieciate my titan

I do construction, so for work, the UtiliTrack accessories are in the way (they're now in the way in my garage).
