Might be a dumb ? but had to ask it. I know what the manual says about a 28 gallon tank but I can only get 24 gallons in her. I've read on here that 4 gallons are in reserve. Where? When does your "need fuel light" come on and how much gas is left in her before empty?

Ive read about this a few times here before...I believe it was said the tank still has the reserve gas and in the lines, etc...and that when the light comes on we still got a good amount of fuel left...The people who have posted before can chime in and go more in detail for ya...
it is a 28 gallon tank the fuel light just comes on sooner though. So you actually have more gas than you think.

Most Nissans that I have owned have big empties. I just ignore the fuel light and fill it up after the gauge goes below E. I have had my gauge read 1/8 inch below E and filled up with 26.5 gallons. I can drive to work for days after my gauge goes below E. 12 mile round trip.
I know for a fact that it is a 28 gallon tank. I was dumb enough to let it run bone dry. I had to had call my wife and pick me up and run me to the nearest gas station to fill up a 2 gallon gas can. It took all 2 gallons to get the fired back up. Ran down to the nearest gas station and put in another 26 gallons. I still hear about this to this day and it's been over a year now.

i remember the needle going below E and resting on the peg. I then decided since I had nothing better to do that I would test it to see how far I could go, I wnt 25 miles while pulling a 1,800 pound trailer until I ran out while in a turn lane

That story reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer takes that car out for a test drive and keeps going until he runs it bone dry and then runs off. It was hilarious.

24 gallons is about all I can afford at one time anyway.
Amen brotha.

I remember back in my other car they told me it was bad (never good) to let it go below the 1/4 of a tank....that it was hard on the injectors and stuff to run it on about dry..is that true?

There are a few things going on here. I am sure it is bad on a electric fuel pump to be run dry. Also as your tank gets lower on fuel it can condensate more inside the tank depending on weather conditions. I just don't like to fill up until empty. But when I do I fill up all the way. It might be worse to only fill the tank halfway or less from what I said above. I also like to run it more empty to get any dirt/water out of the tank. I don't think it would be any harder on the injectors.
I know that some cars have to be taken to the factory to get the car started again, and I know for a fact that on some GM factory radios either letting the battery drain or running it bone dry, it has to be turned on by the factory, not fun
