Question Titan door weatherstrip...

U guys know where I can get the door weatherstrip that goes all along the door opening?? I got a loaner right now cuz theyre "fixing" my seats and I told em to get me a price on the weatherstrip on my drivers side cuz its ripped on the floor part by the door sills...they told me itll be 50-60 bucks...seems pretty steep to me so anyone know of a cheaper place to get?

I took a pic of the loaner and what Im talkin bout...

Re: Titan door weatherstrip...

Why wouldn't it be covered under warranty? Unless you're over the miles, insist they replace it.

Re: Titan door weatherstrip...

thats about the going price for weatherstrips. they arent cheap. i work at a dealership (not nissan) and those things can get pretty pricey. should be a warranty item though, unless it is like torn up and looks like a dog chewed it off... if its just falling off however, it should be replaced under warranty.

LMAO...Maybe you need to find a dealer who understands the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty!! That's not a normal wear item...it's covered.

If you don't tell them, they're not about to just change it on their own. Other than wear items (tires...etc) everything on that truck should be covered. That's weatherstripping, and it's covered. Raise your voice a little because it looks like they may be looking at it like you did that by stepping on it while getting in and out of the truck. Explain that it's been like that forever (who cares if that's true or not) and talk to the SM if they refuse.

Re: Titan door weatherstrip...

there are probably a few reasons why the dealership probably never said anything about it. 1) they wernt told therfore they wernt looking. weatherstrips arent something a tech usually looks at during their 4570709324 point vehicle inspection. 2) a dealership CANNOT recommend warranty work. thats just ripping the factory off and the dealer would most likely get screwed in the end. if the customer does not specifically state a problem with a failed component, then there is infact no problem... on your part you should have brought it to your advisor's attention at the very first sign of tearing, you would have had a higher chance of getting it repaired. most factories have a period of 1 year or 12,000 miles which is called the premature failure period. where i work if i write up a car that needs brakes at 11,999 miles... we're replacing the brakes and charging it to warranty. anything beyond the 12,000 mi or 1 year is on the customer.
i would try another dealership with the weatherstrip though. sounds like that place just doesn't want to step up to the plate. take it somewhere the truck has no history and tell them the seal was sticking up higher than it should have been and it caught your foot when you exited the vehicle or something...
or just pay the 60 bucks for a new strip

Re: Titan door weatherstrip...

At least I got my truck back today with the darn drivers seat fixed FINALLY...according to them there was nothing wrong with my passengers side swaying back and forth (could not duplicate problem) ye right...I even showed them how it moved but whatever...

OK spoke to Nissan on the phone and they said that the "weatherstrip would not be covered under any warranty not even our 12000 mile "adjustments" warranty...I was like dont we got another warranty that would cover...I was like dude this is bull...so what if I had 5000 miles and they said that even then it would not be covered by warranty and is a wear and tear item...

she asked is this ur first nissan or have u had others...I said no, this is my first and it will probably be my last...ur customer service and my dealers customer service SUCKS...she said Im sorry but I want to let u know u have one of the best vehicles Nissan makes...I was like no I love my truck its the people I have to deal with that suck...I didnt really tell her they sucked but I said "I was very dissapointed with their customer service, etc etc...oh well
