If you mean not all the gears are avail,(still stuck in third?) then the Trans is being sent 'limit' instructions from the ECU.....that may indicate a re-flash or replacement is needed.
If by limp mode, you mean limited to 2500RPM, check the MAF against the service manual spec using a multimeter. I'm aware of situations where a MAF was malfunctioning without setting codes.
For the future, pull the trailer brake controller and set in the glove box when not towing. It's throwing current with no where to terminate every time you brake...even when putting the trans into park, and who knows what that does if you have bad ground somewhere, or an eddy current builds in your electrics and zap....something fries. It's a straight twelve volt in and out. Sensors, and the internals of the ECU's are running on mostly less than twelve volts(3-5 volts usually) at the circuit board or component part.
