Great Gas Mileage

Well, I dont know if it's great or not, but I was a little scared of what the Titan would get from reading some posts on here. I got 382 miles on 24.7 gallons for 15.5 mpg. Nothing exceptional except this was the FIRST tank ran through it and consisted of 60/40 highway/city driving on a 4X4 crew cab with tow package. Also had a bit of 0-60 runs and roll on to 100 runs in there as well I think it will be pretty easy to get at least the stickered mileage(or better) on a straight highway trip especially once the motor breaks in. No real reason to post this except most every post about mileage seems so negative, so I thought I'd add one on the good side. So far, the mileage seems fantastic for what it is. I haven't heard of many Hemi's coming anywhere near those results.

Re: Great Gas Mileage

That's good!!!! I only got 14-15 out of my Ford F-150 small v-8 (with no power) so I'm not complaining!

Re: Great Gas Mileage

That's right, no-one should complain about 15.5mpg in a 5600lb truck that has ample power and torque.

Re: Great Gas Mileage

Glad to hear it, so tired of the complaining threads about it. We have a beast and yes it is thirsty a bit, enjoy it.

Re: Great Gas Mileage

I remember one time I thought I got over 17 mpg on a fill-up, I was stoked. When I was driving back home I realized that my fuel gauge indicated just over 3/4 a tank. The gas station had a $50 cutoff on credit card purchases. That brought me back down to earth with a thundering crash.

Re: Great Gas Mileage

I must have a non-thirsty Titan as well. I average 16-17 MPG every fillup. Only once have I not made it to 400 miles on a tank and that was towing my 3000 lb. boat.

I was thrilled yesterday when I got 9.1 mpg pulling the TT, (32 foot Eagle at around 8500 lbs with cargo), back from Memphis, TN.

This was a new all time high mpg for me while towing. I felt like dancing a jig at the Citgo.

By the way the Memphis in May Beale St. Music Festival was freaking amazing!!!!!!

Re: Great Gas Mileage

I wish I could get better MPG. In town, I am getting 10.1 mpg. I don't drive hard, get on it or tow heavy loads. I have 2600 miles so far and the mpg seems to get worse every fill up. I tried premium gas for 3 tanks and never noticed any difference. On the Interstate, the best mpg has been 13-14. I have the King Cab 4x4 off-road with tow package. I love my truck. It's the best one I have ever owned. Just wish I got a few more mpg.

With the lower gears, this is about what you can expect. These numbers are right in line with what others on this forum are getting with the options you have. The good news--> You have the best (IMO) 1/2 ton on the market!!!

Re: Great Gas Mileage

There is so many variables to good gas mileage, it's hard to tell what makes certain trucks/drivers get poor mileage. Torque converter not locking up right or dragging too much when at a stop, brakes dragging, tire pressure low, heavy foot, going too fast on the freeway, racing from light to light, mass flow sensor/02 sensors not working right causing a too rich condition, etc. My father inlaw for example, if you asked him if he had a lead foot, he'd say hell no. Take a ride with him though, and it's readily apparent he has no idea what you were talking about

Re: Great Gas Mileage

19,000 miles on mine now, I have avg 17.9 mpg over the last 1400 miles. Mostly highway around 70 mph, with some stop and go. I hadn't checked mileage since before 10,000 miles and I always got just over 16 then. I have no idea why I am doing better now, I didn't believe the 1st couple of tanks, so I kept a running tally going and it's for real and I am very pleased.
