The new ride is getting 21 mpg so far, and that's only in the city! I miss sitting above traffic, and the V-8 rumble, but I'll settle the smooth power my V-6 I suppose. It does corner really well... (Duh not a truck). I'll get the hail dents taken out next week and all will be good, as soon as I get the Emporia State Power E on the car!
You know what sucks is that everytime you see a titan you will question your decision even though you are saving on gas. I wish you the best of luck with your new car. Stick around!

I'm trying to stop myself from waving at every Titan driver I see. Before the driver got and returned a wave, now they just stare and try to figure out if they know me!

Unfortunately, I am right behind you brother. I was at the Nissan/Volvo dealership where I bought my truck from today. I was looking at a new Volvo S40 Turbo. Very nice car, but a little small. (I guess EVERYTHING seems small compared to a Titan!) Anyway we haggled for a few hours and I ended up leaving because we were about $1,500 or $30 a month off of where I wanted to be. They were selling me the car at over $1,500 under invoice and giving me $22,500 for my Titan (which I thought was decent). Anyway, I said no thanks, shook their hands and walked out. By the time I got home (30 min later) they had already called me saying that they may be able to work something out. I will give them another shot but I am still going to stick to my guns $$$
Why don't you get a Frontier? Better on gas, lots of power...and still a TRUCK!

I did the same thing last month - I traded in my 05 Titan SE KC 4x4 for a 06 Honda Hybrid Civic. The gas prices and my commute really got to me. My daily commute to my new job is 160 miles/day - I have almost 3400 miles on the Civic Hybrid already. When I got my Titan, my daily commute was under 40 miles. At 160 miles/day, I was using about 10 gallons/day with the Titan - which translates to about $650/month in gas. With my Civic Hybrid, I'm down to about 3.5 gallons/day - which is saving me over $400/month in gas over the Titan.
I'm not driving any slower as my commute time has stayed the same - about 1 hour 30 minutes in the moring (4:30 AM) and about 1 hour 45 minutes coming home (5:00 PM). I am very impressed with the hybrid technology, although even with my high commute, I am not sold on the fact that there is a payback on the incremental costs.
I could have gotten a Regular Civic LX for about $6K less, after the $2.5K back from the Federal Tax Credit and State Refund, that still costs $3.5K more. The hybrid would only get about 10 mpg more than a regular civic (45 mpg vs. 35 mpg). So even at $5/gallon for gas, I would have to go over 110K miles (about 3 years for me) just to break even.
The only reason why I got the Hybrid was that I essentially got the car + $1500 (after the Federal and State incentives) for my Titan. If I went with the non-hybrid, I would have just gotten the non-hybrid car for the Titan. It's funny how the trade in-value changes as the car price drops.
Essentially, I got $23500 (after Federal and State incentives of $2500) for my titan - not bad considering I bought it for under $25000 about a year ago (it only had 5700 miles). Ironcially, the dealer is now trying to sell it for $26000!!!
I do miss the Titan and am a little sad everytime I see one, but I am happy with the extra money I save every month.
Wow, that's a pretty good deal! I got slammed on resale, but I had some hail damage and the demand for my truck had dropped considerably! I don't think I could have gone Hybrid after having the power of my truck.
Enjoy your Civic, they are really improved for '06. I liked them when I test drove, but it wasn't enough car for me, and I have a slightly shorter commute.

I was worried about the power too, but I after the test drive, I wasn't that worried. I did about five 0 to 90+ runs and the batteries held up, even going up hill. During the 45 minute test drive, with very heavy driving (with passes over 85 mph), the car still averaged over 37 mpg. That's what sold me.
Off the line it's much weaker than the Titan (then again almost everything else is), but since my commute is mostly highway, I never got to stomp it much off the line.
I really lucked out with my deal - considering after Huricane Katrina I tried to trade down to a Frontier and only got 18.5K for the a trade in value. Guess the Honda dealer is going have it sit on their used car lot for a while. Maybe I should try to buy it back for 18K : )
see this is why i have several vehicles.i have a 70 mile ride to work every day so i switch up between my wifes altima and my titan.i prefer the titan but it helps the wallet.now just convince the wife i need $2000 for a new turbo for the z project so i can drive it instead of the altima.somehow i think it will be worse than the titan tho.700hp has to be thirsty
