Hi all,
I am new to this site, and I am thinking about buying a 2005 Titan leftover.
The 05's(SE) at my local dealer all have smoked wheels (7 of them) which I like
The 05's (SE) at a dealer further away have regular wheels (non-smoked)
Whats up with that?
I thought all 2005 SE model Titan's had smoked wheels
The only thing I can think of is that these are early model 05's and nissan got bad reviews on the wheels and changed back to normal wheels mid-stream
Hi and welcome to Titan talk. I would go with the one you like the best. For me I like the lighter color wheels. They look cleaner to me. The darker color ones look dirty even when they are clean.

you are correct on your assumptions. My theory for them making smoke color wheels is that it matched the exact shade of the brake dust they produced before the fix. Hide the problem instead of fixing it.

LOL^^ I put the smoke wheels on my Black Titan and they look really darn good. But again, go with what you like. or if you find a killer deal, you can always change the wheels later. You are gonna love this truck!

According to the Nissan rep, Nissan only offered the smoke colored wheels for a short time, then changed back to the silver tone wheel. The reason was apparently people were didn't like the smoke color and were asking for them to be swapped before the sale far too often. I thought they looked dirty all the time but think they'd probably look sharp on a dark color truck.
EDIT - Don't let the wheel color keep you from a great deal. You can find the wheels you want on Ebay from time to time.

I prefer the darker wheels, but I wouldn't buy a truck with them. They were phased out in about May of '05, so it is much more likely that you'll be getting an older (possibly more problematic) truck. Of course the only way to be sure is to check the build date, since they made the light-colored alloys then as well.

My red alert SE looks pretty good with the smoke wheels. But like Konig said go with what you like.
If you do buy the smoke ones, check the born on date, and make sure the brake fix has been completed. If it has been sitting on the lot, it may not have the newer brakes.
I personally like the smoke wheels, but its all about preference.
I got the smoke colored wheels on my Titan and l like the look of them, I also get a lot of compliments on the gunmetal color, They look good dirty or clean. I also feel unique because thier are only a few Titans with this color wheel around here. But get what you want, I wouldn't buy based on the wheel color, the gunmetal wheels were out the first part of 2005 and those trucks are over a year old now.

Nissan has used this color wheels quite a bit in the past on its Exterra's and Frontiers which did not have the brake problems but I do agree they probally put them on the Titan to help hide the brake dust.
I agree i think the smoke wheels look real sharp. If i didnt get the offroad pkg i would have chose the smoke wheels, and they look good on every color TITAN.
