BACKGROUND INFO: When i bought my TITAN new, of course the finance guy tried to sell me an extended warranty. Seemed like a decent deal but my feeling on this was, if i want to buy an extended warranty i will do it sometime before the factory one expires but no sense in doing it when its brand new. so, i declined. no big deal.
TODAY: i get a letter in the mail from a company called Continental warranty co. it says that i could be eligible for a 6 year/100k mile extended warranty. by this time my truck is a little over 2 yrs old and ive got 18,xxx miles on it. i figured i got nothing to lose to listen to their sales pitch and see how much it would cost. they said since my mileage is below 20k they can offer me the best plan. it is 6 years from today or 100k total miles. it also is a factory warranty which covers everything that my current warranty covers. sounds great. how much? $1698.00 OUCH. i say that sounds ok but a little high considering that is about how much the orginal extended warranty costs. he said he would knock off 100 bucks. then i beat around the bush and told them i wanted to think about it. the supervisor gets on the line and knocks another 100 bucks off and drops the refundable deposit from 250 to 150 and knocks the deductible from 100 to 50. so i said ok, send me the contract and ill look it over. i have 30 days to cancel w/ a full deposit refund. total cost 1500.00. also has roadside assistance and covers hotel and meals for an out of town break down.
sorry for the long description, but i wanted to give y'all the full story so you can tell me what you think. i think it sounds ok. i mean i am getting a 8 yr total and 100k mile total factory warranty.

I will almost guarantee you it is 6 years from the original in-service date of the truck,ie:the day it was first sold.
Do yourself a favor and if you feel you would like a service contract, get a Nisan Security Plus contract from a Nissan Dealer.
Aftermarket contracts are not accepted by all dealers and have a tendency to have HUGE loopholes.Security Plus is honored at all Nissan Dealers nationwide and is much more lenient with breakdowns that could be maintenance related etc..
There is not a contract out there that is "bumper to bumper" and neither is Security Plus. You must read the fine print!!!!
Security Plus contracts are also negotiable at the dealer level.$1500.00 should very easily get you a "genuine Nissan plan".
Here's a hint on how to buy it,go into your dealership and ask for the "F & I"
department[finance and insurance]see a finance manager on a really slow day.If he has no deals working at the time,he would love to sell these all day long, even for a $100.00 markup.Note he would still make up to 35% of the profits for about ten minutes of work.
If you go in on a weekend or evening, your chances will diminish.
PM me if you need more details

it is six years from today, not from the original purchase date (or "in service date"). i am getting the contract in the mail w/ all the specific details. im sure there are some small exclusions, meaning not total bumper to bumper. however, they read me a list of the major things and it sounds great. but like i said, if i dont think its legit, then i get my 150 back. period, end of discussion. they also encouraged me to take the contract to the dealership that i use and have the service manager look it over to make sure that it will be worth my money. this is why i am reading the fine print when i get the contract. trust me, im one of the most skeptical peeps out there, so, i made sure there was a way to get out of this before signing on the dotted line.
thanks for your responses, keep them coming. i have more info on this when my contract gets here next week.
OP, please google Continental warranty company complaints. There is some information I would suggest you research. I really hope that if the contract isn't what you want they don't give you a problem getting your money back.
I too had the sit down with the insurance guy yesterday. Best deal he made me was $1895 for 72 mo. or 75k. I ask for a better deal and he said that would require him to talk to the manager, but he never did. I think I will see how it goes for a year or so before I jump on a plan. I think if I could get 6 yrs & 100k miles for 1400-1500 range, I would get it.

Remember any Nisan Dealer can sell this to you,not just the one that sold you the truck.Shop Around!!
I'm sure the first question you asked yourself was how long do I intend to keep my truck? Then go from there. I bought my extended warranty from my dealership at the time of purchase 6yr/60,000 for $995.00. It was a used 04 model with 28,000 miles on it. Good luck, whatever you decide.
Well, the Gold plan, which I purchased when taking delivery has been very useful. Nissan has paid for a loaner car on three repairs and has since declined to reimburse the dealer for warranty repair loaner cars. But, the Gold plan has a rental car provision and have those charges covered under that plan. I bet I have about $300 in rental car fees to date charged to the plan. My dealer is 1 hour away and the loaner is a necessary to avoid diving into my vacation hours for time off.

so, are you saying that you found some negative info on this company. if so, please post a link. i tried to google it, and came up w/ nothing on that company only other companies trying to sell me a warranty.
Does nissan allow you to sell back your extended warranty at a pro-rated amount if you want to sell your truck? (I bought the Best one Nissan offers, but I may want to get rid of my truck).
Some warranties are well worth it, I had 3 sunroofs put into a car I had, over $7k with rentals, parts and labor.
