Step rails

While I had my '06 CC in for an oil change, I mentioned the step rails looked like they were getting some discolored spots on the top of them near the ends. It almost looks like the paint is flaking off but it isn't. I figured they'd say something like I was using too harsh a soap but they ordered new step rails without batting an eye.

Anyone else had this discoloration? I just wonder if the new ones will do the same thing.

So far I've been very pleased with the service department at my local dealer (Regal Nissan in Roswell, Georgia).

I've had the step rails on my 04 fro over a year now and I'm not seeing any problems. The new ones should be fine.
