Do I have the locker in my Titan?

I recently bought an 04 LE KC with 4x4. It says 4x4 offroad on the sides. Also it has the step rails. I am not sure if it actually has the offroad package though because it has the 18" wheels. And no switch to lock the diff. Do all the locking diffs have a switch or does it lock up when you go into 4lo?

I am not sure if this is needed but it also has the big tow mirrors and receiver hitch. As well as the Rockford Fosgate radio. Also it has the VDC switch and Tow mode switch.

I am not sure if I want this truck to have the locker or not based on the amount of diff failures but I do want to know if I have it or not.

Also what is ABLS?

It does not have the e-locker as they all have a switch. You can buy a TruTrac LSD if you are so inclined. The e-locker was not available in the early 04 off-road package equipped trucks.

You have the Big Tow Package.

ABLS = active brake limited slip The brake caliper clamps the spinning wheel transferring torque through the open differential to the other wheel.

Sounds like my 04 KC with BT with the exception of the RF radio, stickers, and step rails which the latter two could have been add ons. Have you seen the stickers on other TITANS? do they look aftermarket?

You could probably take your VIN into the dealership and they could run the numbers and tell you exactly what you have, as well as any recalls completed/not completed etc.

Easiest way to tell is look next to your towing button in the center and if it shows 4 wheels you have the locker, if it shows nothing or VDC you don't.

The E-LOCk became available right around May of 2004.

I know of a member that has an OR pkg. - built in April of '04 that doesn't have the locker, where mine is a May build and has it.

If you open the driver's door there should be a sticker, down low on the pillar, with your month of build listed.

Youy probably have an early build 04 that came with the VDC. If so you don'
t have the locker. You could have one or the other in 04 but not both.

Probably easier to add a locker than VDC? Just a guess cause my 05 has a locker but no vdc. 06's have both
