Exclamation Do I Need to Use a Spring Compressor to Adjust DR Coilovers?

Now that the coilovers are on I can't adjust them. I see they have one lock, which I unlocked and then I heaved with the spanner wrench but couldn't move them. I didn't want to use a bar or too much force in case damage the threads.

Do I need to compress the springs to adjust them?

Also I got 1" of thread showing. I assume I need 1and 3/4 " thread for 2and3/4" lift

you can do it w/o a compressor. you should take the wheel off for better leverage since you're not lifted. I did mine w/ the wheels on but Hooligan laughed at me. It was a PITA if you want to lift it. To lower it's not as bad to lower it.

Re: Do I Need to Use a Spring Compressor to Adjust DR Coilovers?

Exactly, take the wheel off. It is so much easier that way. Also, add some type of spray lubricant to the top of the springs and at the bottom. Let the lube sit for about an hour and then re-apply. If you don't, you will have a very hard time with the wrench. I used a 5lb sledge to help turn the spanner wrench at first and then was able to spin it using my hands (and the spanner wrench, of course). Have fun!

Ok, I put some muscle into it tomorrow w/a pipe.

Was going to today but wanted to check if OK.

Adjustment, God willing, to 1and3/4" thread for 2and3/4" lift and I still got a healthy rake

Re: Do I Need to Use a Spring Compressor to Adjust DR Coilovers?

A tip Greg gave me was to shoot the threads with some WD40 and it makes it easier. I found it easier just using the straight side and cranking it in smaller increments rather than using the curved end.

I did it a few times with out a compressor and the wheels on the truck. A little WD40 and they are good to go.
