Angry Chrome Rear View Mirror Help

I ordered a set of chrome rear view mirrors (not big tow), thinking they were the kind that fits over the stock black mirrors and fastens with tape. When they arrived, I discovered such was not the case, and it appears that I have to remove the back of each mirror and replace it with the ABS chrome pieces.

I did a search, and although I found some reference to this problem, I could find no specific directions on how to remove the black back so that I can replace it with the chrome pieces. I am usually fairly good at following directions, so if anyone can provide me with help, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Re: Chrome Rear View Mirror Help

That's a pic with the cover removed. YOU NEED TO STICK A LONG THIN FLAT SCREWDRIVER from the mirror side to press on the lock tabs.

Re: Chrome Rear View Mirror Help

It's easier to see the tab inside the housing if you do it at night while flashing a flashlight in there.

Re: Chrome Rear View Mirror Help

as you are looking at the mirror press it to the extremes left and right and if you take a flash light (even during the day) and a flat screwdriver you will be able to pry and push the black covers off. be glad they are tabs and not 3m tape as you will never have any problems with the tabs!

check my link below i did the same thing!
