New Nissan Titan mining truck competes with Cat!

Attempting to de-throne the world's largest mining truck, the Caterpillar 797, Nissan is introducing the new Titan, the world's only mining truck with an all-aluminum 5.6L V8 engine and 4 doors. The 797 only has one door - and forget about parking it in the garage! Or even your driveway. See the photo below of this impressive new truck in it's element!

Seriously, this is a shot of my brother's truck at a gold mine where he works. It's about 70 miles northest of Elko, Nevada, for those of you who might know where that is. Pretty much in the boonies.

Here's a shot of the 797 with the crappy little Blazer for scale. It's engine has got Titan owners beat:

Cat 797 engine: 117.1 liters, 3,550 HP
Nissan Titan engine: 5.6 liters, 305 HP

Ah that's nothing! We got the hp per liter beat by a long shot.

I want to know what the torque is on that monster! Not the Titan, the other monster.

Re: New Nissan Titan mining truck competes with Cat!

Cat doesn't show torque on their page for this truck, just something called 'Torque Rise', whatever that is. They do show it holds 1,800 gallons of diesel!

Re: New Nissan Titan mining truck competes with Cat!

I'd like to see a stainless steel bug guard on the Cat, and some bling rims.

It's torque per liter is nearly double that of a Titan.

104 lb/ft a liter

versus

68 lb/ft a liter

Oh yeah and it's GVWR is just a tad over what the Titan's is at well over a million pounds. But will cost you more money to change a tire than a brand new LE 4x4.

Re: New Nissan Titan mining truck competes with Cat!

I'll hook a chain up and go toe to toe!! As long as I get to put it in 4x4?

I think the engine powers a generator and they have electric drive motors, like a locomotive.
