Truck Break In Schedule

How many of you have followed Nissan's recommended break in schedule? The manual says no revs above 4000, no full throttle blah blah for 1200 miles. I'm trying so hard to follow it. I'm at 950 right now and other than a few instances where I had to floor it to avoid getting in a wreck I've done well. Its hard though when you have that much power, and you know its there and you want to use it and can't.

Re: Truck Break In Schedule

I followed it, but I'm not so sure it's necessary. There have been lots of threads on here that indicate that perhaps driving your truck REALLY hard as soon as you get it may be best. It allows things to seat properly immediatley. I believe there's even a few engine builder who swear by this method.

Re: Truck Break In Schedule

I followed the breakin procedure. When you wind it out for the first time you will see why they say 4000 rpm. This thing really winds. It might benefit the tranny more than the engine. You are almost there. Remember to vary the RPM.

f**k that...

Just allow the rear end to wear in before you tow. Other than that...let the engine have it...gotta seat the rings woot woot...

Re: Truck Break In Schedule

I made it to 1150 miles and couldn't stand it any more and got on it. I'm a little dissapointed. At about 3/4 throttle and 4000 - 5000 rpms it goes, but at WOT and over 5000 it seems to bog a little. Its definately starving for air, Banks and a Volant have moved up my priority list.
