First Post

Hello everyone. This is my first post on TitanTalk.com.

I have a question for you educated folks.

I just bought my Titan about 3 weeks ago....Love It!!!!!
2006 SE 4x4
Purchased the Tow Package, but isnt the hitch receiver (the part with the ball)
supposed to come with the hitch? I have not bought a truck before so im not really sure.

And one other thing.
The extendable mirrors that come with the tow package, do they have defrost? If so wheres the switch, are they automatic? I see the little defrost icon on the mirror.

Sorry for the stupid questions guys, but my salesman wasent that knowledgeable. Believe it or not i knew more about the Titan than he did.
But thats ok, it made it easier to beat him and his manager up on the PRICE!!

Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: First Post

Welcome, you will learn alot here and my have some fun.

1. Receiver does not come with the truck. That is standard with any truck.
It's a standard size and the size of the ball depends on the trailer.

2. The mirror defrost button is in the middle of the ac/heater control knob. Just push it and it will turn on. Didn't think I would need that in NC, but it has come in handy.

Enjoy the Truck!!

Re: First Post

You realy need to read your owners manual. Just sit in your truck and read it like I did so you can see everything. Welcome to TT

Re: First Post

the rear defroster controls the mirror defrosters

the hitch receiver is the plate under the bumper with the square hole and the plug for trailer lights...I will 2nd the Wal-mart $20 set-up. It's a Reese hitch and good for towing things here and there. If you intend to tow something a little more frequently, I would look for a better one

Re: First Post

Thanks Guys!

That explains it, the rear defrost button controls the mirrors also. Sweet!!

Re: First Post

Well, I guess I'll chime in as well. I just picked up my new 2006 Titan SE KC today. Only 88 miles on it as it sits in my garage. I'm sure I'll be back with questions. But this forum really helped answer alot of my pre-purhcase questions. Keep up the good work. Oh, this is also my first post.

Re: First Post

Oh my, all these virgins.....

Welcome aboard!! Here are a couple things I have learned about my Titan... as mentioned, read your manual - there are a lot of cool features on this truck...

-Horn blowing when you set the alarm can be disabled so that only your signals flash (no sound)... that's good sneaking in late

-Push and hold the 'unlock' portion of the key fob to roll down the windows.. this is really neat on hot days.

-Depending on your model I think the mirrors and seat position can be set to change depending on which key fob opens the truck... I think I read this but since the wife doesn't drive my rig I don't use this feature.

-When you push down on the long pedal on the right you get thrown back in your seat with a big smile plastered on your face...

Re: First Post

Welcome to the board! Yeah, unfortunately you will have to purchase the reciever and a ball for your towing. Wal-Mart has a 2" stainless steel ball and reciever as well as a stainless master lock to secure it to the hitch. It gives it a chrome look if you prefer that. They are slightly more expensive than the standard black painted hitches though. Also remember that you will need to figure out what amount of drop you will need to have your trailer pulling level. I actually had to go to a 3" drop rather than the 2" drop I had on my Chevy to level my boat & utility trailer. Hope this helps, and enjoy the Titan!
