LE lower towing capacity

Why does the LE get a lower tow rating and payload rating?

Re: LE lower towing capacity

I think it has to do with the extra weight of the options. the steps and whatnot.

That's the reason...GCVW is the same is the same for all trim levels, so if the truck weighs a little more, the trailor has to weigh a little less.

Re: LE lower towing capacity

Well, then, why is my tow rating the lowest of all if I have the least number of options?

Re: LE lower towing capacity

Big tow equipped vehicles will have a higher tow rating but the GCVW should be the same. I keep hereing everybody saying that the tow capacity of the Titan is 9400lbs, but the SE 4x2 with big tow is 9500 lbs.

Re: LE lower towing capacity

I think he means a non-BT model, since from low-end XE to high-end LE the rating goes from 6500lbs to mid-7000(?) Not sure why there would be an increase because of the trim level though.

What is your GVWR? I know my LE with big tow is 6,499, just wondering what an XE is.

Maximum Towing Capabilities

KC XE - 6500lbs
KC SE - 7400lbs (9500lbs w/ BT)
KC LE - 7200lbs (9200lbs w/ BT)
CC XE - 6500lbs
CC SE - 7400lbs (9400lbs w/ BT)
CC LE - 7200lbs (9200lbs w/ BT)

As everyone else said, lower towing capacity is either due to added weight or to no BT package.

Re: LE lower towing capacity

The king cab XE can tow the same as a king SE or LE without big tow , but its rated less from the factory due to the tires.
Basically you should upgrade the XE tires if you want to tow 7400lbs.
