Has anyone been watching the Drifting competions on G4? One of the dominant drivers is running a stock Titan motor in a 350z. This against 600+hp cars including Vipers and hopped up Stangs. Not bad for a 305hp stocker. We used to do that stuff on gravel roads around here, saved lots of rubber, but on occasion we'd hit the streets for fun. Cars were slightly different though, 70 Impala LT1 stroked and bored to a 392 ci dynoed at 491hp at the rear wheels. An incredible 6 mpg.....glad its gone now.

hmm, i wonder what makes the titan motor better for drifting? wouldn't you want a manual?
The torque and low end grunt.
I was just talking to some 'car enthusiasts' from a nearby performance shop about this. They specialize in Nissan, preferably Z's. One guy at the shop has a twin-turboed 350Z that's putting down 440hp at the wheel and gobs of torque. But he said, he'd rather have my Titan motor.

They have the 5.6L mated to the stock 6 speed with a custom "plate" I think they called it. They said that the Titan motor weighs less then a twin turbo v6. And that the N/A 5.6 L is has better response because and a better torque curve more suited for drifting. I posted these pics over on the Club too. Apparently they have made a few changes since these pics.

Reminds me of some B movie I saw years ago where they put a bus engine in a volkswagon.
Heck of a lot of money tied up there just to drive sideways.

see the problem with you going sideways is that you don't have control when you do... when they go sideways they still have control... driftin is sick...kinda wish i could drift my titan...lol
