Questions about '06 Titan

I have been reading post on this forum for a few months now, and have been debating on purchasing a new Titan. I have ruled out the F150 its a very nice truck, but is missing features that the Titan does offer. I have had two short test drives in the Titan with the dealer in the truck, but didn't really get to take in the whole truck. Today I managed to borrow a Titan from a local dealer for 2 hours for a long test drive. The truck was sweet and handled great, but I notice a few small issues I didn't care for. 1.) The glass in the BT mirrors fluttered while on the highway 2.) Constant drown from the exhaust while cruising 3.) Dual zone doesn't blow much warmer on passanger side 4.) Heated seats don't get real warm

Does anyone else notice these issues with their trucks? Can a new muffler eliminate the drown while cruising?

Anyone using an Ipod with the navigation? Will it display songs?

I am looking at a crew cab LE, BT, OR, NAV, Sunroof, DVD. or a new '06 Hemi Grand Cherokee Overland. The truck would be a nice change as this will be my 4th Grand Cherokee.

Thanks....
I have enjoyed reading your post and looking at your trucks.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

1. Don't have big tow, but my regular mirrors are rock solid.
2. A lot of people have put on a Zoomers Cannon tip. While considered pricey at $130, it will cure the problem, and you don't have to mess with the exhaust. Also, to answer your muffler question, I don't know of (or think there are any) aftermarket mufflers that are going to be quieter.
3. Haven't tried the passenger temp control yet, but my wife seems to like it. Her complaint about the AC is that the vents can't be completely closed, which is a valid complaint.
4. I noticed this as well, but here in Houston, they don't get turned on much. In my opinion, when it is really cold, any heat helps.

I don't have NAV, but I am pretty sure the songs will not be displayed as there is no ipod integration kit, only the auxiliary input, which can be used with any device. I know there is a kit out there that will intregrate the ipod controls into your radio controls, but I don't know if even that will display songs, my guess would be no.

Hope this helps, I love my 06, sounds like a nice Titan you are looking at.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

I have an 06 with the tow package, and don't notice the flutter in the mirrors you desribed, though the RF will vibrate the hell out of the RV mirror. Personally, I like the exhaust sound and wish is was a bit louder You do know there is a high and low setting on the heated seats? On the high setting, I think they get plenty warm, though they don't roast the chestnuts like the inlaws lexus with just on and off settings. I routinely use mine even in the summer with the ac on, because the back heat is good for the lumbar after a long days work.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

Ummm so where would you be to want to turn on the seat heaters in JUNE? I do believe theres a sensor in that circuit that keeps the heat off a bit more especially when its already hot out.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

I don't have all the goodies you're asking about but I'll comment on the ones I do have.

My BT mirrors don't flutter at all.

I too don't care for the droning exhaust. I haven't done anything about it though. I thought Zoomers was only the cat-back system, I didn't know about just the the tip. I always thought that part of the goal of aftermarket exhausts is being louder. I'm going to check this out.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

I test drove a dealer demo so it might have been the truck. I was very impressed with the smooth shifting. I am trying to convince my girl friend the advantages of the titan over the jeep. She always has her heated seat on because of her back injuries form an auto accident.

What do you think about the Titan holding its value compared to the Jeep over the next 5 years? I am not concerned about issues with the Titans axles, I have 45 pages of service from my current Jeep. My jeep east power steering pumps like there is no tomorrow. 9 total ps pumps

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

I can only comment on what I have on my truck but here’s my two cents worth. 1. My BT mirrors are rock solid on the highway or city streets. 2. That drone drove me up the wall. I installed the Zoomers tip about two weeks after I bought my truck. I love it. The drone is gone, I can hear the stereo, my wife likes riding in the truck now. I don’t have dual temp or heated seats on my Titan.

I have enjoyed reading your post and looking at your trucks.
I have the BT mirrors and they are solid. I have no idea (unless the one you drove had an aftermarket exhaust) what drone you're referring to. I can't even hear mine on the highway. I don't have the dual climate controls so I can't comment. The seat heaters are climate controlled...meaning they only work under a certain temperature. They'll come on but shut off shortly if the interior is warm enough. I know....we have them in our 05 Quest and questioned how they work when they didn't seem to get warm. In Winter they're great.
The AUX only sends audio to the system, nothing else so, no....it will not show song titles.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

I have the BT on my truck, and my mirrors don't flutter.
The drone is an annoyance, but I enjoy it. Besides, my 89 GMC had a flowmaster and was very loud. The drone in my Titan cannot even compare to the drone I put up with for 6 yrs. with my GMC.

Don't have heated seats, but my seat gets plenty warm for me w/ just bodyheat. Besides, being here in SoCal...the heated seats is just a novelty.

Since I have never used my aux on my stereo, I don't know the Ipod question.

The titan is a great truck. You will love it when you buy one.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

My dad is a dyed in the wool Jeep grand Cherokee guy.
He raves about the Titan, and I wouldn't be suprised to see one on his driveway next time I go to see him.
Go drive another Titan and see if the mirrors flutter. Mine don't.
The seat heater in SWMBO's 2003 Altima will burn my a$$ and she loves them.
Your GF will love them.

Don't believe anything the salesman says; Find out for yourself so you will be sure. Go test that Ipod again, and if you have to, ask if you can see an owner's manual for the truck.

Re: Questions about '06 Titan

Hey man, I purchased my 06 Titan LE 4x4 CC in April. The heated seats will get a little warm (my 03 300m I traded in would burn your *** after a bit) but not too warm (as said above some heat is better than nothing). They are still comfortable to me. With it being summer now it might be difficult to sense exactly how well they work. I don't have the big tow package (need the power folding mirrors to fit my truck in the 3rd stall door of my garage) but no vibration issues with mine. I drove 3 other Titans all w/the big tow mirrors and I didn't see/remember them vibrating at all. My duel zone works pretty well, it's a definate for my wife and I so problems there. The exhause I've also noticed but I'm a car guy and I like to hear the exhaust it doesn't bother me. The stock rumble is exactly what I would like not much more otherwise it would annoy my wife. I looked at buying a RAM last year (glad I didn't) that had some helacious pipes on it and it was the coolest thing when Istarted it up but after driving it home (to see if it'll fit ok in the garage, etc) it was extrememly annoying my wife didin't care for it at all. The IPOD will jack into the aux input w/a headphone cable (can't remember exact name for it). I was told the 2007 Titans will have IPOD integration by the sales guy when I bought mine. My NANO works just fine but w/the 6 disc CD/MP3 changer I really don't use my ipod much at all.
