Not sure if it's old news or not, or if it'll even happen, but here's what the newest Motor Trend says:
"Nissan is planning a conventional standard cab and V-6 engine for its next Titan fullsize pickup, expected in model year 2010. The configuration would make Nissan more competitive in advertising a full-size truck in the low $20s, and the engine would help mitigate higher fuel costs and meet truck corporate average fuel economy targets"
I'm sure if they do, sales will increase. Might as well go for as much of the market as possible!

That's news to me but where I live most every truck is either an extra cab or crew cab. I hated the single cab pickups when I owned them.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.
That was a rumor a couple of years ago, dunno if they will do it or not. With the new EPA req. for fuel milage they may have to in order to avg. the fuel cons. to meet standards.

If this is true, i'm bettin it will have the same engine as the Frontier and Xterra. It's a pretty strong engine for a V6 [245 H.P.] With the regular cab configuration which equates to less weight it should run right up there with the V8 in our king cab and probably out run the crew cabs.

Yeah, probably wouldn't be bad. I work for a Natural Gas Utility and I've driven Chevys or Fords for over twelve years as company trucks. They varied from 1500 trucks with v6s to 2500 trucks with 6.0 liters. I currently have an '05 Chevy 1500 extra cab 2wd as my work truck, auto with the 4.8 liter. It does ok, but it ain't a Titan!! The chevy reg cab 4.3 HO I had was very anemic and I hated it. I was afraid to pull out in front of traffic. At least with the 4.8 I can get out of the way! A Titan 4.0 v6 with 265 hp would do the job, but gas mileage would not improve, IMHO. You are not getting much better with the 4.0 in the X/Fronty/Pathy than with the mighty 5.6.....

I'm neutral.. as said before, with new requirements it may be a necesary evil. Like other manufacturer's, I would assume everything would be the same except the motor and transmission, which could potentially mean more aftermarket stuff being made (although the aftermarket has certainly stepped up as compaired to when I first bought my truck).

I aggree with you guys who said it's pointless to offer such an option. Thats why they have the Frontier, that's an a$$ backwards GM move right there. Maybe it would be good if they wanted to kill off the Frontier. I like the fact that our trucks are unique since they all come with potent powerplants. Come one how many times have you guys looked at another fullsize truck and thought to yourself, how the hell do they do anything in that truck with that puzzy engine in it? It's so underpowered, it must be struggling to pull it's own weight. You see you don't ever think that when you look at a Titan, which makes it unique imho.
If Nissan really want's to crack the market open, they have to make a HD TD version in 3/4 and 1ton. They also have to make the diesel engine top at least 2 of the big 3's TD engines. No one is going to want to buy a TD Titan with less hp and torque than all the big 3's TD's. I say they have to make it atleast 350hp and 650lbs.ft to stand any good chance in thier diesel market since Powerstrokes are rumored to be coming out with twin turbos, Duramax already has 360hp and 660lbs.ft, and Dodge is more than likely going to add some power to thier TD to try and top GM. I tell you what if Nissan wants to really steal the years sales they can do it, all they have to do is make thier TD have to most hp and tourque than all the big 3 and you will see tons of people buy it just because that reason. You will see some die hard loyals leave thier brand just so they can have the bragging rights. They don't even have to beat the MegaCab in interior room, just make it have a better recline angle on the back seat and the engine will sell the truck. Leave it to Dodge to make a cab so big it dwarfs the rest of the truck so bad to the point where it looks stupid in anything other than a dually.

The straight 6 definitly has some advantages, hell just change the 6 injectors and boom 100hp more. Damn diesles got it easy. I wonder what Dodge is going to do to 1up GM now, been a few years since they upped the power right? Dodge's exhaust brake is pretty sweet too.
