Received Warranty Offer in Mail Today

I'm wondering what other people have paid for their extended warranty and the terms.

I called these people on the mailer today to see what the price would be. Based on my driving 8k miles a year the warranty would be for 72k miles and last until the year 2012. The price they gave me was 1873, bumper to bumper, towing, loaner car,...etc. They price they gave was $1873. That seems to be a very steep price for something you may not get a chance to use, if all goes well.

I think I've read on this forum of people getting similar coverage but much cheaper, perhaps with somewhat less coverage. Which is ok, as I'm probably only interesting in the drivetrain protection (big dollar items). Can you provide details of your extended warranty and who administers it?

My truck is a late '04 and it has been relatively flawless, the only issues I've had are the common ones, brakes, passenger side condenser drain leak, etc. I also average about 8 years per vehicle so I should have the Titan another 6 years based on my past history But you never know and I don't have a crystal ball.

I paid $1200 for an extended warranty on my old Dodge Ram and only got and alternator replacement out of it, plus I had to kick in a $50 deductible. Definitely not worth it!

Thanks for any input you can provide.

I went with the Nissan gold extended warranty. It cost me $1689 for 6 years/75K miles. If I don't use the extended warranty at all (which I seriously doubt), I get a refund for all of the amount paid.

Re: Received Warranty Offer in Mail Today

I paid about $1000 for an extended warranty. It is bumper to bumper, $0 deductible, 100,000 miles, 7 year and includes rental car coverage and trip coverage (they will pay for a motel and expenses or transportation home if your car breaks down on a trip). Any unused portions of the warranty can be transferred with the vehicle or pro-rated and refunded. Never checked on getting a warranty after the manufacturer one runs out so I don't know what the price diff would be. If your warranty is about to run out you will get a ton of extended warranty offers so be patient and compare them.

Re: Received Warranty Offer in Mail Today

What the dealership doesn't tell you is; you have to buy your extended warranty before 12k miles. You have a limited warranty for the 3 year 36k miles. I bought mine before the 12k; it was a little over 2k for the entire package, but it's covered for 100k miles. It the gold warranty, and covers pretty much everything from the tires and windshield wipers. It even covers the belts, and hoses...
Ask your dealership about what's covered w/i 12k miles, and what's covered after 12k miles all the way to 36k miles. You'll be surprised..
