Tire Choice

I was thinking about lifting my truck soon and was wondering which tires would be good. I live in Hawaii and I do go off-roading in novice to intermediate types of areas and don't know what type of tire to get and what brand. I go through sand, dirt, mild mud bogging areas.

My choices:

Nitto Mud Grapplers

Nitto Terra Grapplers

Super Swamper SSR Radial

Super Swamper Mud Terrain Radial

Super Swamper TSX

Any suggestions????

Thinking about mounting them on either:

Weld Typhoons 18x12 or 18x10

Weld Stone Crushers 18x12 or 18x10

Since money doesn't seem to be an object...

If you're mud bogging, super swampers mud terrains are about the only thing that will clear your treads. Clay sticks!

But you'll grind them off on the street fairly easily.

If you're driving in sand, radials won't clear and you'll be floating until you get stuck.

I assume you have lifted your truck and that the backspacing will allow your tires out further away from the wheel wells...

Show us what you get!

Re: Tire Choice

Sorry, forgot to mention, outta the tires mentioned, which would do good on the road better? Because I usually don't go off-roading as much. more driving on the pavement.

Re: Tire Choice

I would go with the Nitto Mud Grapplers.... I've heard nothing but good things with them... I'm going to put them on my truck once I get the cash.

Re: Tire Choice

I say Nitto Mudders or even consider ProComp Xtreme A/Ts if you do mainly street driving. They have a nice aggressive tread but still an A/T tire. As for wheels, if you can afford Weld wheels, I'd pick the Sand Storms 18x10 with the bead lock. Those are nice but pricey.

Re: Tire Choice

If you are serious about mud get swampers or boggers but be aware they wear like crap and are loud.

My top choices are
Toyo MT
Toyo AT
Nitto AT
BFG MT
BFG AT

And if you go to 17s you will save a lot of money on tires and have more sizes to choose from
