any ideas on replacing the rear diff cover?

Does anyone have any advice as to how to talk the dealer into replacing my rear diff cover? I have noticed the rear end warm but not to the point of it really clicking that it would be unhealthy for my truck. So anyone have a thought on what the magic words I need to say to make this happen for less than the $129.99 for the cover and prob ALOT for the labor involved?

Thanks guys

Re: any ideas on replacing the rear diff cover?

Call a different dealer. Tell them that you have "that notorious rusting 04 diff cover and need to get it 'fixed' and the truck is still under warranty". This tells them two things - 1) That there is a common problem with these diff covers and you are aware of it, and 2) You have a warranty and know that it should cover the "fix", which is the replacement.

It's all in the approach. Not so much what you say as how you say it. Be nice, and act non-chalant(sp?). Like it's normal for you to make this request.

Good luck!

Re: any ideas on replacing the rear diff cover?

I had a problem with my first dealer who literally offered to spray paint it, I then went to another dealer and asked to speak directly with the service manager and explained the problem and he replaced the rusted out cover with a shiny new AL one. They also put in new snythetic oil at no cost... The service managers always have pull especialy when you are pissed.
