holy ****!!! i just installed the aem brute force intake with dryflow filter. sounds the same as stock until you punch it. it growls like a freaken lion. my gas bill is going to be really high now that i have the intake. i gun it just to hear it roar. it sounds incredible. if anyone has been thinking of installing this intake, don't hesitate. it is one of my favorite mods. i purchased it through mossy performance. awesome!!!!!
Now get an exhaust if you don't already have one. They work good together. I have the AEM/Banks combo, really good. Recently did the +2 degree advance and low to mid is really good.

I've got the same combo as BBF, I love both the AEM and Banks. I also have the 2 degree timing advance, and just installed an Airaid TBS this week. My low to mid is really strong now!
Good choice on the intake, it was the dryflow that sold me on it over the others out there.
i have a magnaflow muffler along with the aem bruteforce intake. what is the 2 degree timing advance and what does it actually accomplish? also, i seem to have a whistling noise during normal driving with the intake.. however, sounds great at wot. is the whistling noise normal and should i be worried about it? i know other members that have installed this intake have the whistling noise as well. thanks for any info you guys can give me.
I have the Fram AirBoost intake (rebadged AEM as I take it), and have had the whistling as well. The intake has been on the truck since mid-april and there seems to be no ill-effects from it as of yet.
If, IF, I can keep my foot off the throttle, I have seen a slight increase in mileage, but I'm not sure how much of that is due to the lack of winter additives in the gas....
I've been saying "the exhaust is next" since I bought the truck in june of 05...maybe this year some time....

The 2 degree timing advance advances the default timing curve up 2 degrees. It increases low end torque, and works great. It doesn't actually give more power, it just boosts low end torque and low end throttle response.
It is performed with either a consult diagnostics tool (at dealerships), or the uprev cypher software. Most dealers will charge for it (if they even agree to do it).
The whistling you hear is the air around the top of the heatsheild and the hood. Try messing with the rubber bumpers to see if you can get a tighter fit. I could never get my whistle to totally go away. A trick I have seen is to put a bead of dish soap on the top of the heatshield and close the hood. The soap pattern will tell you if some areas are not sealing properly.
hey jaho1979, i appreciate the info on the intake whistleing and the 2 degree timing advance. i am thankful for this site because of members like you that can share their knowledge with others. much thanks! i think the timing advance is something i need to look into. thanks again.
i know its been discussed about the whistle on the aem bruteforce intake but what was the final verdict. is it harmful, does it matter, what is the fix? someone said it was because of the heat shield not fitting snug with the hood. this can't be it because i can hear it when i rev the engine or when i am only going 20 mph. there can't be enough wind noise to make it whistle like that. i don't mind the whistle but some people claim to hear it and others dont' have it. any info would be helpful. thanks titanrookie
