Bummer... scratched wheels
|
Well, I bought new tires (Big dog Kumho 325/60 18s) and had them mounted at a local Ford shop. The service manager is a really good friend of mine so I like to send work his way.
Anyhow, while the tires were mounted one of their machines scratched up all 4 of my LE rims. Not really bad, but enough where I would want it fixed. They actually brought it to my attention when I picked it up.. wouldn't have noticed until I washed it again.. so it was cool they offered to get it fixed right away.
At first the SM was like "no problem, we have a shop that refinishes them for $75/wheel". I asked him to find out how much extra to chrome and I may pay the difference if that would work.
Well, to paint it was over $220/wheel now, and for chrome it was over $450 a wheel! That's insane!
I told him I felt really bad because I didn't want him to eat all of that. But, he said they would get it done. I almost feel like trying to find an aftermarket and pay the difference or something to help save on the $$.
Those chromed stockers on ebay are nice... and that would save money.. but I'm not sure how good they are for MN winters. And if I did go chrome, i wouldn't mind another style.
Anyhow, thought I'd share and see if anyone else had any ideas on an approch for this.. or just let them paint the stockers over.. Thanks!
