Cummins announced the developement of a high performance diesel for light trucks and SUV's, any reasons not to assume that it will go into the Dodge family?

There may be some "legs" to the Nissan idea. They haven't picked the plant location yet so say another 3-6 months, at least an additional 12-18 months from ground breaking to completion. Lead time to build sufficient inventory for a new pickup puts you pretty close to 2009. 8500 lb and less trucks, that should include a 3/4 ton shouldn't it?

You would think, listening to Dr. Z (see other thread), that Dodge would switch to a Mercedes diesel when the Cummins contract is up. Mercedes has a number of light duty diesels durrently used in their delivery trucks all over the world. We sell chemicals to the Cummins plants, and the quality of their parts has gone done in the last four/five years. Cutting costs like most manufacturers, they have cheapened a lot of parts.
Doesn't Nissan have a line of diesels they use over seas in delivery trucks? Seems like a modification of one of those would be the most profitable for Nissan in the long run.
Nissan using there own Diesel would seem to make the most sense to me. But what do I know. lol I just don't understand why they are even entertaining these other diesel ideas?
I sure hope toyota did not sneak into this deal???
Also If you read this line it kinda give us hope for a diesel Banks Powered twin turbo 350z...
"This line of diesel engines also will fuel the growth of an exciting new market in which Cummins does not currently participate."
PieeeeeYAAa!
