I need a Titan Expert

I'm looking at an '04 SE Titan, and was curious what changes have been made between 04 and 06.

The rigs got < 30k and they wants $21k for it. On recall had new brakes and rotors installed. Also wiring for trailer brakes.

Sounds legitimate, but don't want to make a poor decision.

Thanks a ton!

Re: I need a Titan Expert

i'm no expert, as i'm sure they will chime in later, but there have not been too many changes. Most of the stuff has been cosmetic and/or package differences.

that deal doesn't sound too bad, i have almost the same truck (if its a 4x4 your looking at) and i'd be delighted to get 21 out of it!! best of luck

Re: I need a Titan Expert

Sounds like way too much. I have an 05 SE that is loaded with the Rochford Fosgate system, Utility bed option, Tow package and only has 10,000 miles.
I tried to get 22K for it when it only had 3,000 miles and I didn't even get a bite.

Right now you can buy a brand new 2006 SE king cab for $20,951

Only way I can tell them apart are the 04s have an "Endurance V8" badge on the side.

I dunno man, i just kbb'd my truck, and it was listed at 23,395 for excellent condition. so obviously, take a little off of that and 21k isn't that bad. Again, i dunno if he is looking at a 2wd or a 4wd, which would make a big difference

I have the 2006 XE CC. The 2004 have diffent rear end. Make sure the 2004 has the updated rear with synthetic oil and the aluminum diff cove on it. The sticker on my truck was 33k, I payed 28k for it, but it has the tow package and the offroad package.

Re: I need a Titan Expert

i guess that's how much mine is worth?!? if you are trying to determine if it's an 04, check for the rear glass sideways slider (present on all CC, unsure about KC; not powered up/down like 05+!); V8 badging on fenders instead of doors; plain jane, flat, black diff cover. as for updates, powered rear glass slider on CC only. rear sonar sensors optional on SE packages. diff interior color schemes. compass/temp gauge moved from rearview mirror to overhead console. mp3 capable radios. power folder standard mirrors for 06; auto climate too. engine, same although numbers up'd a lil for 07. brakes are 3 yrs unlimited mileage if i recall correctly. trailer wiring was a bulletin. my only concern is not being able to work out all the "kinks" before the warranty runs out...have them toss in an extended warranty???

Re: I need a Titan Expert

Never said it was loaded but considering all of the standard equipment, I'd hardly call it "Stripped". I't still considerably lass than $32,600.

Re: I need a Titan Expert

For more details:

It's the King 4x4 w/ the Bed Utility stuff. Looks like there are audio controls on the steering wheel also. Don't know if this means the added audio package. The gal says it has the off-road stuff also. I'd have to have her check.

Make sure the 2004 has the updated rear with synthetic oil and the aluminum diff cove on it.

Does anybody know any more about this? Were there problems with the non-synthetics or previous diff cover?

Re: I need a Titan Expert

First the facts; 04's had a plain diff cover with no heat sink. King cabs have never had a powered rear window. The only difference you would find between brand new and the 04 would be that diff cover and different V8 badging on the sides. They switched the diff cover to an aluminum finned cover to help dissipate heat. Nissan had an unusual amount of rear diff failures in trucks like the one you are looking at.
In My Opinion; The price is where it needs to be. Not a great deal but not a rip off either. I am sure that you can get a great deal right now on a brand new truck though. Wouldnt be that low but you get a brand new truck with 36k miles of warrenty rather than 6k. But again its not a bad deal. Dont be discouraged if it doesnt have the new diff cover. There are plenty out there that dont have the new cover and are doing just fine.

Re: I need a Titan Expert

That price seems a little bit steep. I just bought my '04 Crew Cab Titan SE, non 4x4 but it did have the utility package and big tow, and I paid 19,700 for mine. My advice, keep looking.
