Factory RPM settings

Ok I finally got a hold of the Cipher package and wanted to clarify something. Does anybody know the factory RPM @ idle for the Titan. I know I have to adjust the idle 75RPM on the Titan after the timing bump but I would like to know the factory setting incase my idle as already been changed due to my exhaust and intake. I have heard owners have seen slight changes with those 2 mods.
I'm sure it's already posted on the site but I already spent a while searching for the exact setting and haven't seen it yet.

Can't help ya but......the ECU will simply correct any manual timing adjustments won't it?

Certian actions will lower the RPM of the truck @ idle. Bumping the timing is one of them. I have also heard that exhaust and intake will lower it. The cipher software will allow the user to change the RPM @ idle and it will not change back. Just like the 2 degree timing bump.

If you do the 2 degree advance you have to adjust your idle sine it has been change due to the timing. When I got mine done, he (nascarjody) told me my idle was pretty good but he adjusted it anyway to make sure. Don't know if it's because I have intake exhaust already or not.

Re: Factory RPM settings

I have the timing advance and my idle stayed at 650 with the AC off. If it lowers it but still runs smooth is there a reason to bump it up. I would think it would save some gas idleing at lower rpm?

Re: Factory RPM settings

Thanks for the info...interesting stuff. Are you guys seeing any actual benefit from the timing advance? If you're able to change it w/o having the ECU change it back, I would imagine you'd see the same small HP bump premium fuel would bring.

Re: Factory RPM settings

650+/-50 at idle with no A/C..

Timing sticks +/-2 degrees...Guaranteed.

Much better throttle response and better 0-60 with timing advance. 1/4 not proven yet.

Re: Factory RPM settings

Why would you want to move the idle 75 rpm? the ECU is going to make the idle what it wants to be, why do you care if it's "only" 650? By the way most of the time when you advance the timeing the idle goes up...again who cares?

Why would you want your RPM to be high at idle?

Re: Factory RPM settings

My timing is +2 and I didn't mess with the idle. When the cypher guys were at our last Houston meet, one of them said that if I wasn't experiencing any problems, there was no need to mess with it.

Bumped the timing yesterday and didn't see any change with my idle at all according to the cipher log.

Same results here. Much better throttle response immediately. Reading about Thermostat change, don't really want to do that if not really needed.
