I planning on switching from a Dodge to Nissan and have been reading some of the Titan's drawbacks and have some questions. I have read that Nissan has invested alot of research in using nanopaint. So based on member complaits I'm guessing that the new Titans don't have anything special done in regards to its paint process.Correct?
Sorry if this is a repost I'm new.
Welcome to TitanTalk, Mutiny85....My truck is silver and yes the paint is a little thinner than my past vehicles, but it's really shiney and I have no complaints so far at 80k miles.

Nissan is not using that self repairing paint yet in the states. I've heard rumors on here though that it might be an option by 2010. However, my truck is red brawn and I do some pretty hefty offroading and have not noticed the paint being any worse than any other vehicle I've owned.
I have the white and have had no paint problems at all. But it seems like you have more info on Nissans paint than I do....lol, so I'm of no help!

Hey Nissan! How about a car that can change it's own oil! Now THAT would impress me!

this is one of the only complaints i have about my truck maybe i am only one but paint on my truck seems to scratch a hell of alot easier than any other truck i have owned. if i breath wrong on it it scratches.
I kind of like the idea of a vehicle with self repairing paint. The self changing oil works for me too. Just as long as the truck doesn't start talking to me - stuff like - your door is a jar - and fasten your seat belt - from a dis embodied voice up under the dash would drive me nuts - I already have a wife to do that for me!! LOL
My black Titan has the softest or thinnest paint out of any vehicle i ahve ever owned. i am a stickler about keeping things neat and new in appearence and this black paint is HORRIBLE.... I just ahve learned to be extra careful with others around my truck.
Too true - and its not just Nissan. VOC emission limits have made all manufacturers swith to different paints. They do a much better job of painting but the paint is softer. My gripe with my Titan is what they did after they painted it. I have a two inch crease in my left door that I noticed the day after I got it home and was waxing it. It had to be from the factory (not the dealership) because it is just below the door trim and the trim is unmarked. Very hard to see but I was disappointed. Also a big dull spot on the drivers side of the bumper where I beleive they dripped hydraulic fluid on it. Minor but annoying.
BTW - has anyone noticed that the painted plastic pieces (front bumper trim, etc). don't match the body paint very well. This is also common with other manufactuers. Those parts are painted by the supplier off-site before delivery and are often a few shades different.
