Destroyed tire photos...

My Titan's tires are fine, but those in the photos didn't fare too well!

First is a photo of a mining truck at the gold mine my brother works at in Nevada. A hydraulic leak caught the tires on fire, eventually burning the truck to the ground. The tires are $25K each, the truck itself is $6,000,000. The truck was new with only 6 hours on it, but was covered under warranty and was a total (and very expensive) loss. No one was hurt.

Second is a photo of the almost-new and very expensive Goodyear Marathon trailer tire from my boat trailer. It exploded Friday afternoon at 70 mph in 115 degree temps in Barstow, California after 9 hours of towing on 150 degree asphalt. No damage to the boat or trailer, and even the rim survived, so it could have been much worse! The tire had less than 1000 miles on it, and carried no warranty at all according to Discount Tire! Now I'm shopping for a different brand (Greenball Tires).

Bad week for tires!

I'd say you were very lucky with that trailer tire, good thing you had two axles. Would have been a big mess had that thing started swirving on you.

Re: Destroyed tire photos...

Dont use carlisle or greenball. For the weight I would use a higher quality radial trailer tire.

Any recommendations for a good-quality trailer tire?
