Just installed the cover tonight, and boy does it touch up the looks of the ***-end of my 6-inch lifted 2006 4x4 SE Titan. The advertisement for the cover listed 4 quarts of gearoil required (substantial volume over stock), elsewhere I've read (probably in the forums) 4 1/2 quarts. I don't want to overfill, what is the correct quantity of gearoil?
I'm just trying to establish a new reference line on the dipstick with the correct oil volume since the pumpkin is kind of at an angle because of the lift (causing the existing dipstick reference lines to be off).
Just get it close, the 'angle' of the diff isn't as severe as you think, which means the line on the stick isn't really off by much. Get it close to the line and you'll be fine.
I've always known rears to be filled until the oil starts coming out of the fill hole.....but none have had an actual dipstick. I'd just do it the smart way and fill to the FULL line.

That dipstick is deceptive. A guy (on here I think) over filled his and his axle was drowning and oil was coming out of the breather valve. I just filled mine until it started coming out of the check hole. That was below the low line on the dipstick. Do the axle breather mod too. I put my cover on after the tru trac install and when I opened the oem cover it was under pressure. OEM breather is garbage! And I agree, cover looks Bad A$$ even on my leveled truck, can only imagine on a lifted truck. Oh, just a hair over 4 qts. Hottest I have gotten my rear diff is 170*. I installed a temp gauge too.
So I went and dumped all 4 quarts and the fill was indicated between the top fill index mark and where the machine knurling ended (of the dipstick). Thanks for the inputs guys.
54warrior, (sorry people off thread topic) I really like your Left Fender Splash guard Mod. Do you have any problems with rocks, mud, debris collecting ontop of that. Any status, updates or more pics would be appreciated, and I hope you don't mind me copying the idea.

I figured yours is just below the low line because of being level, and mine is above the top line because of the slight front-pumpkin angle due to the lift. Ahh yes I saw 54Warriors link to the vent mod and that is a definite next project mod. Thanks

hey, i just saw this post.... i had problems filling it up to the line on the dipstick. it would blow out of the diff vent at highway speeds. now, i fill up till it comes out of the hole, and call it a day. the hole on the cover is actually higher then the stock diff fill hole, so the fluid will be at a higher level then stock. here is a quickie pic of the levels compared to stock. pretty simple to tell by the pic.
