Today me and my brother decided to goto Lake Pleasant here in AZ. It was cloudy out but nontheless we decided to brave the weather. He pulled his boat and i pulled the jetski's.
I have an 06 Titan Kingcab SE and he has an 06 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 BigHorn Edition.
Anyone who has been to lake pleasant knows that if you dont drop from the boat ramp there are lots of other nice areas to launch from.
Ours was a rocky sloap on the opposite shoreline from the boat ramp. We have launched from it a few times before when my brother had his 05 Titan SE.
Well needless to say i got stuck on the incline and i ended up having to be embarassed while his dodge pulled me up the incline after launch
I will never live it down. Time to buy a new Titan in 07 that is 4x4!!!
r u saying the Ram outpowered the Titan ..or are you saying you have a 2wd and you had to get a push from a 4x4...i wouldn't beat yourself up all that much..gawd my 4x4 pathfinder probably could have hooked you..~smile~
whose to say that if you went back today that you would not be able to do it. however, as stated before, a 4x4 would be your best bet on launches like that.
Just act like it doesn't bother you at all...its your only hope of it ever getting dropped.

When I was just getting into trucks i bought the floor model GMC Sierra ext cab 2wd...i learned my lesson once or twice before I switched to 4x4. The only thing that Sierra was good for was fuel and hauling compost to the dump.

haha foreal! why by a non 4x4 truck? if i'm buy a truck dont matter if its a 4 banger yoter its gonna b 4x4!
I think a lot of people don't think about 4WD unless they off road or live in a snowy area. Even living here in the northeast, I can honestly say I've used 4WD more in summer than in winter this past year. But some folks simply can't come up with larger payment for the 4X4. Nothing wrong with that at all!

Hey SYN, we both know we can cover 90-some% of this state w/2wd.
I've been places w/2wd's that others w/4wd couldn't get to.
Also have gone in knowing I wasn't getting out w/o help. The people I was w/knew it too. We get better spots around the "northside" that way. They pulled as needed.

Don't sweat it.
Here in WI, every single person I know who's had a 2wd truck at one point will never buy one again...

2WD's have their place, and if properly equipped, can do almost as much as 4x4. If you had the TrueTrac, you'd have gotten out. Traction and Clearance are all that matters.
I have a 2WD. No shame in it. I don't think that there are many 4x4 Titans that can go where my JEEP can go. I have 8" of lift, 33's and a "no-Slip" locker in the rear axle. She'll go anywhere... My Titan can get everywhere that I want it to, and when I get the $$ approval from the wife, and put in the Truetrac, it'll be more than capable.
2WD's are for goin' fast, be it on the road or off. For crawling and climbing get a 4x4 with a short wheelbase, live axles, and lots of articulation.
Hey guys, I hope this isn't too OT but there were SO many threads on TrueTrac and this was the most recent so I figured this was better than starting yet ANOTHER one for just a couple questions on the TT, if I may.
If my sticker says I got the "Traction Pkg" with "2-wheel Limited Slip ABLS", do I need the TT still? Do I already have it? Is it worth the money to add to what I already have, and will it really make a difference? I once used the Tow Mode button to get out of some loose gravel, was that stupid?
Sorry to sound like such a noob but, in the year that I've had the truck, this is the 1st I've seen or heard of the TT system so I just wanted some clarity. Thanks!

The TT, from my understanding, is a true Limited Slip differential meaning when one wheel slips, power is mechanically sent to the other wheel. What you have (and the rest of us) is ABLS. That uses the brake to grab the spinning wheel, forcing power to the other wheel. The ABLS, although helpful, is nowhere near as effective. Also, I think the TT can be locked as well....I could be wrong though.
