Sad to say on Friday my son and I were involved in an accident that may total our truck. We were hit from behind by a '03 Chevy Tahoe traveling in excess of 40 mph on impact. Attached are some pics that show the passenger compartment intact.
Has anyone ever dealt with Allstate and do you have any advice, Allstate is the other drivers ins. co. http://community.webshots.com/slides...035&key=Twtogj
Hope everyone is ok, never want to see an accident.
I totally agree with ya. Your example is the exact reason I bought a Titan. Safest truck you can buy.
I hope the people in the tahoe are ok too. Those tahoes are on the old GMT800 platform, not good in frontal crash tests. The reason I didnt get a silverado right there.
Sorry, never delt with allstate ... only state farm and american family.

glad you are o.k. ,thats the main thing. i have allstate and was involved in an accident with another allstate driver. the only thing bad is they try to get both drivers to recieve a percentage of the liability, however with you being hit from behind you should recieve 0% liability. although i dont know all the details. good luck!

I was hit from behind last December by a Dodge Caravan going about 40 mph & my truck tore apart their poor car. I had my wife, son & daughter all with me and because we were in the "Tank" all the damage was dealt to the dodge.
I also believe the trailer hitch helped cusion the impact to my backend. Best $25 I ever spent!

Glad you are okay. Looks like a totaled truck! The frame looks to be bent big time. I would only accept a total on that! They can straighten it, but it will never be exactly right and won't be as strong as it came from the factory.
You live in Florida - A No Fault State - which means you need to take it to your insurance company and they should take care of it. Then your insurance company will go after Allstate for re-imbursement. Crawl under the truck if the frame is bent - total the truck. The same exact thing happend to me in my 1998 f-150 - the frame buckled right above the axle. Since the truck was paid off and i wanted to use it as a trade in i had my neighbor fix it at his bodyshop. He welded the frame and put a new bed in. Saved me the deductible and truck from total loss. I used that truck to trade in for my titan. I got "MINT" value from the dealer to make the deal work. lol.
yeah right - if they're gonna total it - scavenger it for parts. I see a bed divider, tie downs, big tow mirrors are hot, maybe fogs? This just may be a windfall. not! but maybe helps with that deductible.
yes, glad to hear everyone was ok...I too can attest to the toughness of the Titan...my '05 was totalled on Father's Day by a drunk driver...my girlfriend and I rolled over but we were ok.....I couldn't believe how well the truck held up...that's another reason why I bought another Titan...good luck with Allstate...I haven't dealt with them but I'm still fighting with my insurance co. over the payoff figure for my '05. they only wanted to give me 21k for it...
I had over 10k of mods on it too.....not that they car about that.....
Hey Mike, that looks like a rough hit. Glad everyone is ok. I have had some experience with Allstate. Several years ago my wife was T-boned in a low speed accident in Wisconsin (I used to live there), the other driver had Allstate.
The car was still drivable after the accident and Allstate asked us to take the car to one of their inspection sites. They inspected the damage, confirmed the accident report and called the local dodge dealer (she was driving a stratus at the time) to confirm repair costs. They issued a check within a week, and directly paid for the doctor ordered kneck massage therapy for my wife's wiplash.
All in all a very easy insurance company to work with. I even considered switching, but they cant touch USAA's insurance premiums, and Ive never had a problem with them either.
On a lighter note, if your truck is totaled, can I buy your engine cover?

Wow! Glad to see you guys are ok. This is exactly why we bought this truck. It demolished evreyone in the crash test ratings.
Now after analyzing your truck and the crash dynamics at 40mph+ from a very heavy vehicle, I am amazed that there isn't more damage to the tailgate section of the vehicle. And it's nice to see that the crumple zones did their job.
Good to hear everyone is allright. I don't have All State but my cousin does, he say All State is pretty good at claims and payout. I also think that's a total lost, look like frame is bent pretty good. Goodluck.
I think you will want it totaled. when my last truck was hit from behind, they were going to order a new frame and totally rebuild it. you will not be able to trade it in at a dealer as they will get a carfax report on it. which will show major body damage. the insurance company will look after there own intrest here. you need to look after your own interest. go to collisionclaims.com and get a free estimate on what your depreciated value will be on resale. then make your decision from there.
