Re: Valentine Hardwire

Just use a volt meter to check for a wire that's on with ign.

Re: Valentine Hardwire

When I posed the same question, our Supermod BestAtChess suggested running off of the cigarette lighter fuse using this:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=071-585

I haven't wired that way yet, so can't say difinitively that it's only hot with ignition on. Might be worth a shot though.

Re: Valentine Hardwire

For our existing sockets, it's ther right one. The left is hot all the time.

that's fine depending on where you mount your valentine. mine is mounted on the visor, so i just ran a short phone cable from there to the wires behind the compass and temperature gauge. i took a voltmeter and measured for the wire that was +12 when the ignition was on.

if you mounted it on the visor, it'd be just as much trouble to run wires all the way down the a-pillar and across to the cigarette lighter.

The left socket is hot at all times, the right socket turns on with the ignition.

WOW $50? Could have save yourself some money.

Here's the fix.
1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

Thanks basebllfanz, I assume that is what those morons did for $50. I did find the same info after the fact, naturally too late. Gotta love the stealerships
